Hi all,
As you will have noticed, the PS Store re-launched successfully today, and we'd like to thank you for your positive feedback.
We are aware that many of you have experienced delays whilst the PS Store's thumbnail icons are being downloaded. This is a temporary consequence of a new system implementation and high global traffic levels, and will be resolved within the next few days.
Thank you for your patience and continued support! All the best, Lestrade

The design of the European version of the store, as in the way games/demos/etc... are categorized and divided, compared to the organizationand sorting features in the U.S. store is puzzling. Could you address some questions for me please ? 1.) Where is a View All function ?
2.) Why is not all content related to a single game grouped together when we view that game's page (example: people would like to look up Pixeljunk monsters and see the game, demo*, trailer, themes, etc. and everything listed on the right) ?
3.) What is the rationale behind the decision that for the EU store we needed to use a set of categories different from:
Newest Releases -- PS Eye Games -- PSP Games -- PSone Classics -- View by Genre -- View by Title which is the format used for the US PSN Store ? How is the current organization of the EU Store UI better than the one used by the US store to navigate and find content on the store ? Messaggio modificato da Panajev su 15-04-2008 04:22 PM

Cheers for the update, atleast you know about it. can i have the old store back please? atleast that was easy to find your way around, less time consuming and more intuitive. Im sure that's what the new store was supposed to provide though. All the categories need rethinking along with some sort of clue as to where you are within the store. You try going to Videos >> game trailers and knowing whether your looking at the screen for downloading games or video (yes i know you've just clicked videos but just by looking you can't tell where the hell you are). Is it only me that finds that not being able to just keep pressing right when cycling through the icons a bit annoying. It's a bit counter intuitive to have to keep zig-zagging back and forth across a big grid of (most of the time invisible) small icons just to see what it represents.. Also why cant i choose how i want my content to be grouped/sorted? i don't want to look at game trailers grouped by their genre, i wanna know which trailers have just been released. Sure it looks slick but id take functionality and content over that any day (not that we had much content in the first place). I'll try to finish on a positive note but it's hard to try and find one at the minute. The ability to download PSP games and demos is a great addition.

Panajev wrote: Another problem related to Icons' loading and their caching is that it seems that each time the store is closed the cache is flushed and when you restart the store you have to fill the cache up again. Will this be addressed without a new FW update ?
Highly unlikely id say. Iv mentioned this elsewhere on the forums and cannot belive this was overlooked.

Text is completely unreadable on my TV (16:9 at 576i). Can manage to make out name and price of item once I've clicked into it, but everything else is so small it might as well not be there. At least I could see what I was doing in the last store.
What cable's are you using? I'm running mine the same way and the text is fine for me.

Thanks Lestrade - good to see a really fast response time to a valid problem, which, let's be honest, wouldn't have waited until the next regular update.
Great new PSN Store, much more logical and simple, as well as a real 'next-gen' feel and look to it.
Well done Sony, and thanks again to the 'Big L'!
P.S. I reckon Thursdays update will be the best ever with the MGO open beta, and also GTA4 coming soon also...Life gets better & better Message Edited by TheKastle on 15-04-2008 08:59 PM

This may be a simplistic view of the store, but hey thats me. Since the majority of the store seems to be built in to the firmware, it begs the question as to why, apparently, the icons for the catagories are downloaded from the internet and not stored locally on the PS3 somewhere, or even cached! Overall, I quite like the new store, just a shame about some of the catagories that seem to have been chosen, there is definately a few better ones, like some of the US ones, which seem to lend them selves better then the way it is now.
