It’s been 20 years since the original Capcom title hit our videogame screens, but swinging into action this summer on PLAYSTATION®Network is Bionic Commando Rearmed!

A return of the intense shooting and grappling action from the much-loved 1988 2D side-scroller, Bionic Command Rearmed also delivers online rankings, 2 player co-op, a frenetic multiplayer mode for up to 4 players and a series of over 50 devious challenge rooms to test your skills. Cross-game interoperability will allow you to unlock new content and get a secret insight into the characters and storyline of the brand new Bionic Commando sequel coming later this year, by completing parts of the game.

Here’s the perfect chance to be part of this massive revival – we’re opening the floor to let you fire off questions about Bionic Commando Rearmed to Stockholm-based developers, GRIN.

The answers to the 10 best questions will be posted onto PlayStation.com (we’ll let you know when!), and each of the 10 people who get their questions answered by GRIN will be rewarded with a Bionic Commando t-shirt, provided courtesy of publishers Capcom.

Post your questions into this thread by noon (BST) on Monday 21 July to be in with a chance of winning!

Rules

  • No more than 3 questions can be posted per person.
  • You must be 16 or over to take part in the Q&A.
  • All entries must be received by 11:59 BST on Monday 21 July 2008.
  • Admin’s decision on the winning 10 questions is final.

What were the biggest challenges in transferring the game from the original to this new next-gen version?
When you first started developing this title, were there any specific elements that the team decided they definitely wanted to add in that were impossible in the 8-bit days?
Are there any elements of the game that you wanted to include but just couldn't because of time/technical limitations?

^^  Good Qs Alex!  ^^ :smileyvery-happy:

What do you think will attract new gamers to this title, who do not have any nostalgic memories of the original?

Is it difficult for such games to compete with the multi-million dollar/pound budgets of today's gaming industry?

Is there any truth in the rumour that you *actually* grafted a telescopic, mechanical arm on to an army vet and then mo-capped him? :smileyvery-happy:

I never played the orignal so my question is, Is it made taking into account new players to the game, do they need to know the story of the original?

Why did you decided to remake the original game with the new engine instead of just rereleasing a touched up version of the 8bit original? If you could swing anywhere, where would it be? (and i mean via rope or vine not in certain specalist clubs) What is you favourite type of cheese?

Knowing that there are quite a lot of fans of the original game, were you at all worried about losing these original fans in the process of remaking this great arcade hit, or have you taken the original fans into account, and tried to produce something that will undoubtedly appeal to both original fans, and new players?

Seeing as the majority of games in this generation are now supporting co-operative and online play, these could almost be classed as an essential ingredient to making a good game. Is this why Bionic Commando Rearmed also includes these features, or were there more reasons behind that idea?

Lastly, Rearmed is based upon the original 8-bit vision of this game, and so more people might be more keen to play this, rather than the new fully 3D sequel which is scheduled for release later this year. Seeing as the sequel is quite different (being in an open world and all) to the side scrolling blast-em-up, do you feel that this could make a big impact on the sales of the bigger budget game, or are you quite confident that the sequel will in fact sell just as well, if not better than rearmed, due to certain key points in the games storyline?

Q1) What was the most difficult feature to import into this new Bionic Commando game?

Q2) If there was one feature you could put in. what would it be and why.

Q3) What are the team/you most proud of about the game and why.

1. How easy was it to program for the PS3?

2. Will there be any DLC?

3. What do you like most about Bionic Commando?

well i have read of how much Capcom and GRIN wanted to keep it true to the original NES Bionic Commando so...

1 Was there anything from the nes bionic commando that GRIN thought this should definitely NOT be in BCR?

2 How many original designs were there for the BC and BCR logo and who came up with the official logo?

3 How did the process for making the secret super hard/impossible difficulty for BCR all come about?

1) Has any thought been given to providing a level editor for those platforms that would support user-generated content?

2) If BCR proves to be financially successful, is there any hope for a side-scrolling sequel?  Scrollers may have an interest only to a niche market within the gaming community, but it's a niche that's been largely ignored in recent years.

3) Does Nathan Spencer have some kind of medical condition that prevents him from being able to jump (at least in his side-scrolling incarnation), and if so, did he have some kind of specialized surgery to allow him to jump ten years later (in the 3D shooter)?

Q1. It has been announced that Bionic Commando: Rearmed is to include one of the PSN's most wonderful and underrated features: Remote Play. Why did you decide to make use of this feature, with the added work involved, while also knowing that Remote Play would be impossible to include with the versions on other platforms? Q2. The remaking of classic games has become quite prevalent in recent times, with Capcom leading the charge. Do you think that this trend will continue, and why do you think there has been so much consumer demand for these remakes? Q3. Did the development of Bionic Commando: Rearmed influence the design for the new Bionic Commando in any way?
