Don't know if it's been posted, or if you knew this but here it is if you didn't. As quoted from GDC 2009: We got to talk with Todd Stevens of Infinity Ward today, and he had this to say about Modern Warfare 2.
"Modern Warfare 2 is set to release early this November, and will be on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. The Playstation 3 is our leading platform for Modern Warfare 2. The PS3 version will run smoother and have slightly better visuals than the PC and 360 version. We've been working on Modern Warfare 2 ever since we released Call of Duty 4 back in 2007. We would like to thank everyone who is still with the Call of Duty 4 community. We will be releasing more information throughout the coming months, so be patient."

Thats true but they've already had 1 1/2 years to develop. You cant tell me not one of them has thought of dedicated servers. Mind you this is IW we are talking about so if someone did mention it at a meeting there would be a lot of confused looks on the developers faces.

all good devs now use the ps3 as lead platform, its good for everyone all round as it improves the 360 version aswell IW said when they developed COD4, the PS3 was easy to program for, and put a lot of other devs to shame really

COD4 came out around 1 1/2 years after R:FOM, and that didn't have dedicated servers, so I'm not gonna hold my breath for them! P2P would work better if more people took responsibility for their own cr@p connection, either by going wired, or upgrading their package. I have friends at work who own PS3s and have bad wireless signal strength, or poor ping/upload/download speed, or refuse to put their PS3 in a DMZ, saying 'it should just work' That's all very well, but if it doesn't work, and there are loads of people like them that refuse to do what they can to improve it, then P2P will always suck!

This isnt always possible! Id love 20Mb broadband but unfortunatley the highest that i can get in my area is 2Mb! This is a problem for many people! As for the wired vs wireless - im not allowed to run a 20m ethernet cable from the router to my bed room! Parents Message Edited by The_Yeti_ on 31-03-2009 05:11 PM

2mb should be fine (if you're actually getting 2mb) as long as your upload speed and ping are ok too! And as for the parents...kick them out!

I don't understand my internet. When I did that speed test it said I had: Download speed of 450kb/sec Upload speed of 200kb/sec (something similar to that anyway, not 100% sure) However when I play Call of Duty I generally get a good signal.

Weird... But I take it you can't host? As for P2P networking, it COULD work but they need to do something's to make sure you end up in good quality games. Do a connection test when you log on to the online part of the game, and if you do not meet the minimum requirements to host it should NOT let you host for that game session (re test next time you log on). Also they need to add host migration BADLY... This is probably the most frustrating thing about the current CoD games. Also being able to pick a region to connect to. I end up in Japanese/Brazilian/Mexican hosted games way more often then I should, needless to say my ping is red/yellow. I hope thet can perfect P2P gaming for MW:2... But I'm not holding my breath.

I don't understand why the game ever selects a host with a cr@ppy connection...as I've posted before elsewhere, there must be one or two of the twelve people in the lobby that are capable of being a good host!
