Definitely Ratchet and Clank! ![]()

Hey, both of those trilogy's are great, classic games from the PS2, so it is a pretty tough choice. I own both of those trilogies as well as the Sly Cooper Trilogy. The Jak and Daxter series is great, the first one is amazing, the second one is OK, and the third one is good too. I wouldn't say that they are hard games, just a bit of a challenge at times. There's a great storyline in all of the games, however the last two games get become much darker than in the first one. Think of the last two Jak and Daxter games as a smaller, kid-friendly version of GTA. Overall, Jak and Daxter is an awesome series, although there are times where you may lose interest or feel like rage quitting. Now the Ratchet and Clank Trilogy. I played all of the Ratchet and Clank games on my PS2 (including Ratchet Gladiator) and I have to say they are really, really good. There is good, solid gameplay in all of the games and a good storyline, but the story is not as good as Jak and Daxter in my opinion. There are loads of crazy weapons that are fun to use like a gun that turns enemies into sheep. Considering that you have played the PS3 Ratchet and Clank games, you should expect the original trilogy to be quite different in some ways to the new ones. Also, number 3 in the series has online multiplayer for 8 players, although I haven't tried it yet. So I hope I've helped you a bit by giving you some info.

Are you playing with your eyes closed or something.. I admit at times It's challenging but I've beaten It about 10 times the first of which I was about 13 years old..
I guess everybodies different.
Jak 2's difficulty due to poor checkpointing is a well known problem (Eurogamer make a note of it in their review as well http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-02-16-the-j
Anyway, getting back on topic, let us know which one you pick and what you think of the game you get.

I never met anyone that could beat it. Everyone I spoke to agreed that it was just too difficulty at times. Often the difficulty just comes from the missions being so poorly designed or because of bugs in the game. Just google Jak difficulty and there are hundreds of posts about the game being too difficult.
I think I was about 12 when I played Jak 2 and there was no way that game was meant to be played by a 12 year old. If the game didn't restart you with the level of ammo/eco that you had when you died and if it had more checkpoints or even just med-kits in missions that needed it, the game would probaly be ok.
These are just a few missions that stand out in my mind.
Retrive the Seal from the Shanty Town
This mission is hard because there is no room for error. Even if you are a second behind or a civialin bumps into you on your hoverboard, you will die. To make it worse, the rules of the game have been changed. Usually the Shanty Town has a few cars flying around or in the water but for some reason they have all dissapeared ![]()
Escort Krews men through the sewer
This mission would have been ok if there had been a checkpoint in it or even a few med-kits. This mission has almost no platforming and is almost all about combat, so its mad that it has neither. The last part where you have to fend off the metal heads isn't too bad if you have full ammo but that's another problem. Each time you die in this mission, you end up with less and less ammo. This means that every so often you have to leave the mission to get ammo in the port.
Race against Errol in the streets
I didn't find this difficult but I know alot of people that did. I actually noticed that Errol didn't have to pass through the rings or obey the games physics ![]()
Escape from the Palace after you win the race.
This mission wouldn't have been annoying if it had a checkpoint once you reached the closed elevator. Every time I came to the rail parts towards the end, jak kept falling for no reason. It was if a part of the rail wasn't registering. I found this problem throughout the game. To make it worse, this mission had very little combat and was mostly about platforming, yet the mission was full of med-kits ![]()
Destroy the Hellcat cruisers
This wass the mission that made me stop playing the game on the PS2. I could always get rid of about 3 of them but then I would always die. The amount of Krimzon Guards that arrive is way above normal. Even on the PS3, the only way I could beat it was to use an exploit to get rid of your wanted level.
Protect Young Samos in the forest
This wasn't really difficult but more annoying. The problem was with ammo. It took me about 4 tries to beat this but after the 3rd try, I had to go all the way back to the port to get ammo.
I'm currently on the Wack a metal-head mini-game but I'm sure there are loads more to come ![]()

Jak 2's difficulty due to poor checkpointing is a well known problem (Eurogamer make a note of it in their review as well http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-02-16-the-jak-and-daxter-trilogy-review but cite it as an "extraordinarily difficult game, with checkpointing that could generously be called cruel"), if you call it a problem of course. It was also released in 2003 which would put Pin PIn nine years younger than he is now (or more depending upon his birth day). As such it proably isn't fair to criticise that somebody, when they were 9-12 (a guess), couldn't finish a game.
Anyway, getting back on topic, let us know which one you pick and what you think of the game you get.
Someone would seriously try and beat that game ten times?
Ok... I first played it when I was late 20s?, when my ex bought it at release. She was good at Jak and got all 101 power cells back before youtube, the popularity of playguides etc, and she could never beat Jak II.... Ok, looking back at it now, J&D isn't that hard... I even got the plat trophy myself and I'm not a platformer... As for Jak 2 I recall getting stuck on a mission which involved powerboarding to strict time conditions... Haven't even bothered getting too far on the PS3 version...

I got The Ratchet & Clank HD Trilogy and R&C A Crack In Time today, ive only played Tools Of Destruction up until now and i never played the PS2 R&C games
Its strange because i grew up with Jak & Daxter on PS2 but i just didnt feel like getting it for some reason, it might be because ive already played them so paying £30 for them seems abit pointless
Should i play A Crack In Time before or after the HD Trilogy?

I would say play the trilogy first. I couldn't really remember RC 2-3 so I had no idea who the villain in A Crack in Time was.
Ive been on wikipedia and reading the storylines of Ratchet and Clank and Ratchet and Clank 2: Going Commando and they dont say anything about Dr. Nefarious, the first time he gets mentioned as the villain is in the storyline for Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Was Dr. Nefarious not the main antagonist of the first two R&C games?
