Are you playing with your eyes closed or something.. I admit at times It's challenging but I've beaten It about 10 times the first of which I was about 13 years old..

I guess everybodies different.

Jak 2's difficulty due to poor checkpointing is a well known problem (Eurogamer make a note of it in their review as well http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-02-16-the-jak-and-daxter-trilogy-review but cite it as an "extraordinarily difficult game, with checkpointing that could generously be called cruel"), if you call it a problem of course.  It was also released in 2003 which would put Pin PIn nine years younger than he is now (or more depending upon his birth day). As such it proably isn't fair to criticise that somebody, when they were 9-12 (a guess), couldn't finish a game.

Anyway, getting back on topic, let us know which one you pick and what you think of the game you get.

Someone would seriously try and beat that game ten times?

Ok... I first played it when I was late 20s?, when my ex bought it at release. She was good at Jak and got all 101 power cells back before youtube, the popularity of playguides etc, and she could never beat Jak II.... Ok, looking back at it now, J&D isn't that hard... I even got the plat trophy myself and I'm not a platformer... As for Jak 2 I recall getting stuck on a mission which involved powerboarding to strict time conditions... Haven't even bothered getting too far on the PS3 version...

Apologies first of all I never meant to cause offence, and reading my post again It does seem a little patronising..

I was just shocked to hear some of your views on the difficulty of Jak 2, and even more shocked when I read some more views on the internet. I just never realised people thought of It as being so difficult that's all. I have completed It a fair few times since It's release 9 years ago and I've never found It that difficult (maybe my love for the series acts as some kind of repelent to the difficulty haha)

Although one thing I will definitely agree with you on Is the lack of checkpoints In missions, finished the HD version of the game on PS3 about 2/3 months ago and I often sat there after being killed thinking 'do I really have to do ALL of that again just to get to where I was' I guess It Is frustrating for some but I loved almost all the missions so It never really bothered me too much. I definitely understand the frustrations of some though.

The mission that sticks with me Is definitely retrieving the seal piece from the Water Slums as well though! I found the best method to use was the 'JumpSpinShoot' technique with the blaster ( X+O+R1 ) I don't know If you use the move often but I used It alot through Jak 2+3.. takes out enemies all sides of you whilst also stopping the likelyhood of you being hit whilst doing the move, just a little tip for you If you didn't already use it.

On another note for those who have given up on It you should definitely persevere with It as the story Is fantastic and the ending Is a really good link back to the 1st game :smileywink:

..Might have to play through Jak 2 again after all this!

I just beat it there about half an hour ago. I agree that the story is fantastic but the difficulty does let it down.

The last boss was a pain though

Spoiler
I started with full ammo. I tried a few techniques to see how I should kill him. Once I decided on a staregy I realised I had no ammo. I thought this is ok, I'll just restart the mission and get more ammo. Every time I restarted the mission I automatically was back in the fight. In the end I had to spend 3-5 lives just going around breaking crates so I could have a full clip. I did it in the end though and it was incredibley satisfying to know I had finally beat it :smileyvery-happy:

I got The Ratchet & Clank HD Trilogy and R&C A Crack In Time today, ive only played Tools Of Destruction up until now and i never played the PS2 R&C games

Its strange because i grew up with Jak & Daxter on PS2 but i just didnt feel like getting it for some reason, it might be because ive already played them so paying £30 for them seems abit pointless

Should i play A Crack In Time before or after the HD Trilogy?

When you do get round to it hopefully you love it. A Crack in Time is one of my fave games of this or any generation.

Re: Ratchet or Jak??

This is my take on Jak II and why no-one should buy it! Sadistic is the best way to describe some of the design choices. Plus a massive level of incompetence for creating levels where you can get stuck with no options to either complete or abandon the level.
