cool stuff, LA. nice work :smileyhappy:.

anyone been playing Operation Raccoon City recently? its no Resi 5 (that game was awesome, darn it :smileyvery-happy:), but its still nice to be back in the Resi world.

have been playing alot of it over the past week and have put together some quick tips and hints for playing it online. is it ok to post it up in this thread?

it probably doesnt need a guide as its not the hardest game in the world to understand, but its always nice to be clued-up and prepared for what youll be facing, whether you havent played it before or youve given it a try and havent quite worked everything out yet.

general gameplay

all the maps and all the modes have 2 teams fighting against each other. inbetween both teams are hoardes and hoardes of zombies and monsters and other horrible bio-weapons. navigating around these (either running around or just shooting your way through) is half the battle in most games.

most standard zombies arent too much bother, you can run around them or take them out with a couple of bullets (or a headshot).

watch out for Lickers as they can grab you, slowing you down.

and be careful of Hunters, who jump about and knock you down. help team mates (and the enemy) take them down.

bleeding and infection

getting shot up with bullets will cause you to bleed, and zombies like blood. this means you have a whole load of problems if you start leaking red stuff. the zombies around you will go all mental and aggressive, start running and grouping up on you. health pick-ups will stop it, or itll stop by itself quite quickly too if youre not under attack.

sometimes zombies will infect you aswell if they get too close and cuddly. grabbing some blue antiviral spray is the way to cure yourself. herbs and first aid will give you more time though. eventually when all your health is gone youll turn all zombified and die.

if your team mate is in that situation, you can headshot them before they turn. though recommended to do it when they have very little health :smileywink:.

remember that using both kinds of sprays help players standing around you aswell.

Versus modes:

Team Attack

just about killing the enemies really.

Biohazard

capture the random spawning g-virus capsules and bring them back to your base.

extra points for: capturing capsules, killing enemy carriers.

defending your carriers and clearing a way is a good idea. using Surveillance is smart too.

Heroes

your first life as a Hero is buffed up with extra health. the objective is to kill the enemies first-life Heroes. after your first death you respawn as standard characters with normal health with the aim to protect your teams remaining heroes/attack the enemies.

extra points for: killing heroes, surviving as hero.

sticking together helps alot. as going up against more than one Hero isnt wise.

Survivor

survive until the rescue helicopter lands, then fight your way inside. each death adds slighty longer respawn time.

extra points for: escaping in da choppah.

killing the enemies will help slow them down later on. and when trying to board its also wise to help stay back and defend fellow team mates sometimes.

characters/classes

because it helps to know which characters do what before a game:

Assault (Lupo/Dee-Ay)

has powered-up guns, which are great for lighting-up enemies.

Surveillance (Spectre/Party Girl)

great for finding enemy/zombie positions on the map.

Recon (Vector/Willow)

the sneaky stealthy one. good for hiding (especially on all the dark maps).

Medic (Bertha/Harley)

the Painkiller ability is great for cutting down damage.

Field Scientist (Four Eyes/Shona)

attracting zombies is useful when you need backup.

Demolition (Beltway/Tweed)

the sticky timed mines just add more grenades really.

the Heroes on both teams seem to have slighty different abilities and set-ups compared to the normal classes (for balance i guess. eg theres no map pinging ability to find enemies to begin with), so theyre a mixed bunch of abilities.

hope some of that helps Resi players out there 8)
