Never played Ratchet on the PS2... I was never much for platformers, although I did play my ex's Jak games.... but I did really enjoy ToD on the PS3, and although I didn't enjoy ACiT as much I still platted it... so it's an interesting ride for me to go back to this trilogy....
If the PS3 games are anything to go by it looks like a series that is more all ages friendly than Jak (the sequels have not held up well in the gameplay and design category.... I mean, who ever designed the difficulty inconsistencies for Jak 2 needs a clip around the ears...) and good for a stress free casual play.... yet deep enough with the Gold Bolt collection and Skill Points for those who want a challenge..
Started last night with Ratchet 1. From what everyone says it is by far the most aged of the trilogy, like most of these trilogy sets... (Sly 1, Splinter Cell 1) so maybe seeing as they are quite individual for story I should have just gone straight into Ratchet 2... Will try to at least finish the game, even if the prospect collecting bolts isn't as refined or interesting as the sequels...

Ratchet 1 will be the most outdated it was originally released in 2001. With Ratchet and Clank newcomer's i would be tempted to play in order weapons carry over like a rewards system.
Waiting for my copy but have recently played my PS2 versions. I personally think Ratchet and Clank still outdo the Sly and Jak and Daxter classic games and they're still decent games.
