I don't think we'll see a standalone version of Left 4 Dead on consoles and the very same reason why we'll see this instead:

Overkill working with Valve on “in-depth” Payday/Left 4 Dead “collaboration”

Well we saw both Left 4 dead 1 and 2 on 360 :smileytongue:

Well something isn't right else we'd have seen them on PS3 already

Here was me thinking they was MS published but they wasn't so I really dont know or can't really comment on why.

Re: left 4 dead on ps3?

It'll be becauase they were both released before Valve had changed stances on the PS3, or at least heavily into their development (for L4D2).

I believe the reasons for them not wanting to go back at this point and port them over (despite the source engine already being done) is that publishing games on consoles is expensive, and it probably woulnd't be worth it, it is a popular game on Steam but at this point - it likely wouldn't sell /that/ much on PS3.

They could of course release it as a PSN title like they are doing as CS:GO, so whilst I have said I think it is unlikely, I wouldn't rule it out. Valve support their games for years by treating them as a 'service', so they more than most see value in old games, I just think it is harder to do so on consoles given the certification fees and such.

Re: left 4 dead on ps3?

Isn't the publishing on PlayStation Sony's costs or do Valve publish their own games then?

I really don't know that much about Valve as a console gamer TBF. I shall have to do some more digging on them to understand them a bit more.

Valve are there own publisher, but as your ID games post shows, with the doom series, Theres NOTHING to stop a release, IF a developer realy wants to do just that. Not stopped SEGA or Capcom, Re-releasing there games from other platforms on to the PS3 with some small work done.

Well I've seen countless questions asking for Left 4 Dead on PS3, I've never seen one for Doom 3/collection. Besides, ZeniMax Media (Bethesda parent company) own/publish Id games now and the likes of them, Sega or Capcom as you mentioned above are giants compared to Valve so they can afford to release older games.

Re: left 4 dead on ps3?

There are certification fees outside of publishing and distribution costs. The certification fees are quite high, though, admittedly small change for Valve (per employee, more profitable Google, Microsoft, Apple, Sony, etc).

Re: left 4 dead on ps3?

There is still nothing Realy stopping them.

They Even have paid and use other Distributors to sell there products in with past games.

Just meant the profits from the steam platform were divert to Physical Media for PS3.

Re: left 4 dead on ps3?

If enough people kick of a stink with valve and put presure on them from the Playstation fanbase at the very least they will do a PS3 exclusive Left 4 Dead title

They have Blu ray anyway so data space isnt even a problem

Re: left 4 dead on ps3?

No, at the very least they will do nothing, at most they might release a Left 4 Dead title for the PS3...........and data space doesn't even come into the equation. Again, you have lost me gazberotten.
