10 of the Best: PS3 originals

UnCh.png

We round up the finest ground shakers and mould breakers from the first four years of PlayStation 3.

Uncharted

Combining knockabout charm with a spectacular sense of adventure, Nathan Drake is the undoubted star of the Uncharted series on PlayStation 3. The fabled Amazonian city of El Dorado is the subject of his first outing in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, though Drake finds something far darker than the lost City of Gold.

Next, Drake heads for the Himalayas on the hunt for the ancient Cintamani Stone in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Get up to speed with Drake's first two daredevil adventures, ahead of the sand-swept next instalment – Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.

LittleBigPlanet

They say that giving is better than receiving, and LittleBigPlanet for PS3 takes that one step further by giving you the tools to create and share nuggets of gaming joy, with loveable mascot Sackboy lighting up your creations.

LittleBigPlanet 2 expands the possibilities further, letting you build not just levels, but entire games for the thriving LittleBigPlanet online community. Empower your imagination with LittleBigPlanet now, only on PS3.

Resistance

Mankind's future has never been threatened as it is in Resistance: Fall of Man on PS3. Its alien invasion introduces us to the terrifying Chimera, descending on an alternate 1950s Britain intent on wreaking havoc.

You play as Nathan Hale, a US soldier assigned to the British resistance, who then returns home in Resistance 2 to continue the struggle across the Atlantic. Outlandish weapons, an eerie parallel universe and a blood-curdling enemy make the Resistance series unforgettable. Join the fight on PS3 before it's too late.

Heavy Rain

End the Origami Killer's spree in Heavy Rain on PS3, as you experience the action from four different points of view. Incredible visuals put you at the centre of this BAFTA award-winning thriller, while moody ambience and a dark narrative web combine to set Heavy Rain apart from anything else.

A grief-stricken architect, an insomniac photojournalist, an FBI profiler and a private investigator form the four pillars of the emotionally driven plot. The course it follows depends on the decisions you make in the heat of the moment...

Killzone

War against the Helghast began in Killzone for PlayStation 2, and it is given frightening intensity in Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 on PS3. As Tomas "Sev" Sevchenko, you are leading the fightback deep into planet Helghan, and where the drama ends in Killzone 2, it begins once more in Killzone 3.

Fight your way out of a disastrous situation in a bid to escape the hostile planet. Blistering action in a storm of bullets is the series' trademark – sign up for the all out assault on PS3 if you think you have the nerve.

inFamous

Cole MacGrath is a very different kind of hero. The star of inFamous on PS3 is someone who grew up not knowing his purpose, so when a bomb blast gifts him strange new powers, he faces a dilemma: use them for good or evil in a vulnerable world?

The choice is yours to make, and it affects the way you are perceived by your stricken fellow citizens. Be worshipped or feared, and above all, be prepared to live with the consequences in inFamous, exclusive to PS3.

PixelJunk

Imagination and invention are the cornerstones of the incredible PixelJunk series, available to download to your PS3 from PlayStation Store. Will you choose PixelJunk Eden, the enchanting adventure set in a magical garden?

Or will you sample the watery delights of PixelJunk Shooter in a bid to save trapped scientists? Maybe you'll command an army of critters in PixelJunk Monsters? Try one or try them all, and discover why quirkiness equals happiness on PS3.

Comet Crash

A brilliantly playful take on the classic tower defence genre, in Comet Crash for PS3 you must devise devilish tactics to take out the massed enemy forces ranged against you.

Cannons, giant laser towers and booby traps will wipe out the swarms headed your way, and if you download it to your PS3 from PlayStation Store, you'll see it's the variety of sticky ends you can devise that sets this a class apart.

Sports Champions

Gather up your friends and go for gold in Sports Champions for PS3, as you harness the intuitive control offered by PlayStation Move in your search for supremacy across five sports.

Disc Golf, Gladiator Duel, Archery, Beach Volleyball, Bocce and Table Tennis are the six activities on offer, each perfectly meshing with the PlayStation Move motion controller. Go to toe-to-toe against friends or form a winning team to show off your skills in Sports Champions on PS3.

PlayStation Move Heroes

Six legendary heroes are brought together for the first time on PS3, in PlayStation Move Heroes. Team up to overcome the fiendish challenges devised by dastardly duo Gleeber and Lunk, in their 1st Annual Inter-Universal Games.

Step into the action as Ratchet, Clank, Jak, Daxter, Sly or Bentley, using the PlayStation Move motion controller to whip, throw and smash your way to glory. Become your favourite PlayStation icon in PlayStation Move Heroes, exclusively on PS3.

PlayStation 3 is a hotbed of quality and creation - just play any of our picks to remind yourself exactly why.

Re: 10 of the Best: PS3 originals

Not from Sony but a sony exclusive... Yakuza 3 is easily better than most of those games and should be played by ps3 users. I have never played an engaging story like the one Yakuza 3 had... I only just started 4 but i dont think it will hold the same value.

Although Ratchet & Clank TOD and R&C ACiT weren't exactly "ground shakers" they're both top games imo, and I thought they might have got a mention

Being a platformer fan I'm very disappointed :smileysad:
