IMPORTANT - PSN Authentication Update & Forum Downtime

[ Edited ]

Hi all,

I have an update for you on the introduction of PLAYSTATION Network authentication on the PlayStation Forums: we will now be launching this new functionality on Monday 14 April.

From Monday 14 April onwards, you will need to log in to the Forums with your PSN Sign-In ID (email address) and PSN password. Your Forum name (i.e. the name that will appear on your public profile and next to your forum posts) will be your PSN Online ID.

If you haven’t already, please make sure that you have linked your Forum account with your PSN. Guidance on how to do this can be found here. But don’t worry if you don’t manage to link your accounts in time, you will be able to log in to the forums and post using any valid PSN account.

To allow us to update the Forums in preparation for this change, they will be offline for one week from midnight on Sunday 6 April until noon on Monday 14 April.

Once again, we’re very sorry that this roll-out was delayed from its original launch date but we’ll look forward to seeing you back in the Forums after Monday 14st April.

** IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION **

The Sign-in ID used to authenticate and log in to your PLAYSTATION®Network account will be the email address you register for PSN. This is different to your PSN Online ID, which is the equivalent of your Forum Username.

Your Sign-in ID will not be displayed in the Forums, on your Forum Profile or be otherwise accessible to any other person.

To protect your account and to keep your PSN account secure, we strongly recommend that you do not disclose your PSN Sign In ID (your email address) to anyone on the Forums – whether in a public thread or via Private Messaging. And *NEVER* tell anyone your password, even if they claim to be a Sony employee or representative. Doing so could compromise the safety of your PSN Account.

Isn't it strange how there is a new firmware upgrade the same day these forums update. It could be home?
