Re: The forums have had an update!

Also why is it only the MVPs questions/feedback have been replied to? Surely you're talking about it enough privately in that chat.

And me! (I'll reply to you, narr)

Maybe it's one of those sneaky things where they make the threads too narrow for a few days, then add the extra 40px width they always planned to have and everyone congratulates them on having found a minor improvement, even though they're still narrower than in days of old.

Or maybe not... :smileysad:

It'll all make more sense further down the line, we have a roadmap in progress to bring new features to the forums, the 2 column design is something we had to incorporate early on to allow future updates.

Obviously I cannot divulge what these might be as things might change due to technical/logistical reasons.

Reading between the lines here... The 'squashed look' is here to stay?

Whilst I understand the aim of trying to be more appealing and useful to new users, who have perhaps stumbled upon the forums after Googling a problem - it is useless making it easy for new users if all the frequent contributers (who bring the new users here and answer their problems) are driven away.

It probably is a great design for purpose of improving the experience of new users. They probably just read the original post, and then there is a lot more useful information just to the right for them to access. However, for frequent users, this small change at the top of the page, has extremely annoying impacts further down the page (where most of their time is spent).

Re: The forums have had an update!

A few thoughts:

- I like the new Escape Plan banner: embedding videos doesn't quite look right at the top of the page.
- Post counts/rank/registration date coming back? It was nice being able to see them alongside posts.
- Possibly it'll look different with the new content to the side, but the size and position of the thread at the bottom of the page (i.e. when there's the blue gap) is kinda strange.

Re: The forums have had an update!

Has any body got An IPAD with the Zoom to focus enabled in safari and got it to work.

I tryed a Android tablet before and its zoom to focus feature failed to work.

Web kit browsers are supposed to come with this as standard on mobiles.

So they just crop the right side off and dont render it untill you scroll accross to read it.

Can't do that on PC. have to render the hole page.

This site seams now to be built for mobiles so they don't have to re zoom now .
