POSSIBLE BUG

well i've just read every post in this thread - (phew!) & it appears nobody has the same issue as me.

i use the ps3 browser & since the forum format change, the L1 (backpage) button on my dualshock often has no effect. sometimes it works fine, sometimes it takes 5 or more presses to work.

i've done some troubleshooting (visiting other websites, gaming etc) & the controller is fine.

once it is working, it will continue to do so (repeatedly pressing L1 has the desired effect) however after navigating a page and/or altering the zoom, i'm back with the same issue.

not a big problem, just thought a moderator might like to know

That sounds like a bug with the PS3 browser, or that the PS3 is taking a while to reload the previous page rather than a bug. The pages on here are quite large and generally not the optimal format for the PS3 browser.

1) 'that sounds like a bug with the PS3 browser' yep, a brand new 1 specific to this forum, yipee!

2) 'or that the PS3 is taking a while to reload the previous page rather than a bug.' nope - no loading icon @ top right hand corner

3) 'The pages on here are quite large and generally not the optimal format for the PS3 browser.' well, it's a SONY PLAYSTATION website & a SONY PLAYSTATION web browser. 'nuff said.

no worries strange, appreciate the response

just having a 'sony' moment mate. happens now n again:smileyhappy:

Re: The forums have had an update!

Here's a suggestion that might help diagnose the issue. Try going to giffgaff.com (The phone operator) and browsing their forum. See if the issue occurs on their site too. They both use Lithium forums so they should behave the same. If it isn't then simply resetting the browsers cache etc should fix it. Otherwise it's a bug in the browser.

The browser however isn't made by Sony and neither is the forum. Lithium make the forum and the web browser is made by NetFront, so complaints should really be made to them. :smileywink:

giffgaff.com works fine, just like every other lithium based site i visited in order to troubleshoot prior to posting here
thanks to mont348's advice, i've been clearing my cache & deleting other things quite regularly for many months now.
if i bought a jar of sainsbury's chilli sauce & it had a weird reaction on my plate with some sainsbury's rice, then believe me - i wouldn't be annoyed at the tiny factories that made them. my ire would be directed at sainsbury's

The forum looks kinda nicer on my iPad now.

But what percentage of the time do you go on the forums with your iPad?

It was all I every used to read these forums. 100% of the time the when I "borrowed" the IPAD, Shame the stock levels got to low.

When I had My Ipod touch It was just so quick and easy to browse the forums and websites any were with wifi.

Still miss Touch screen Keyboard as its was much more reactive than this physical Keyboard now.

WOW!

I never thought people used their iPad's that much to go on the forums :smileyhappy:.

Even wrote a guide on how Idevice users can save time and bandwidth buy using multi picture based bookmarks in a Idevice folder http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Website-and-Forum-Help-Feedback/Speed-up-forum-use-with-secti...  used to be a sticky.

Re: The forums have had an update!

I quite like the new forum layout when I'm on my netbook, but not when I'm on my iPad. I like the idea of hovering over peoples' PSN IDs to get more info, however, you can't do it on the iPad or iPhone which is where I browse the forum the majority of times. >.<

Make an iPad-friendly version? Haha... It'll never happen. :smileysad:

Yes an Ipad User

Does the Zoom to focus work correctly now....

Click, sorry, press your finger on the white outline box around the post section, should stop every thing to the right rendering as You scroll up with only the posts rendering.

Hows the Rich text editor does it now respond to the virtual keyboard access. (can you finaly stop writing in HTML)

Been a while, most Ipad users are over protective of their  "laptop with out a keyboard" ( BBC Click)....

You disappoint me Vissy. I thought when the oppressive MB left, the forums wouldn't make any more awful changes :smileytongue: Nearly half the page is wasted on a blue background. Make the threads wider.

EDIT: It makes sense really. I click on a thread to read what is in it and not to look at a boring blue background or some pointless feature that you may implement in the space

Re: The forums have had an update!

i really like the twitter functionality and also the 'hover' function over someone's avatar (to see details and recent posts )

the squished up threads took a bit to get used to but may make it easier to read on mobiles with less scrolling i suppose.
