Re: The forums have had an update!

It's really squashed. :smileyindifferent:

The reply page is the same size though.

Re: The forums have had an update!

Looking at it again, the design suffers a lot of flaws, space isn't being used in an effective manner, there are too many boxes within each other when reading posts too. It seems like a bid to make people take notice of the content on the right sidebar. I can see this just annoying people though. If you widen the reading area a little, it would be a HUGE improvement

i've never looked thinner!

bit too squashed for me tbh, and far too much empty space on the right side. other than that the other tweaks are fine with me.

edit: hover function doesn't work in IE, but someone else has written about that.

Re: The forums have had an update!

If you want to put links on the right hand side, how about making them dynamic so that they pop out when you hover over them? Then you can give us proper width threads again...

Re: The forums have had an update!

I realise a lot of meetings, planning and other stuff probably go into these changes but I'm rather amazed someone didn't say

'Nah, it'll look far too squashed up if we do that''

at any point during those stages.

It'll all make more sense further down the line, we have a roadmap in progress to bring new features to the forums, the 2 column design is something we had to incorporate early on to allow future updates.

Obviously I cannot divulge what these might be as things might change due to technical/logistical reasons.

Re: The forums have had an update!

Can i just ask why the posts are now half as long in width? there doesn't seem to be any space issues and now posts just look odd and like they've been minimised,

Re: The forums have had an update!

hey guys, why not trim a few pixels off the left and right side divs where theres nothing but blue (the yellow highlight) and add that space to the width of the forum posts themselves (the red bit).

this means we'll get more posting space yet the announcements new space wont be affected.
