From what i read its something like this, so something bad happened when he was younger which made him adopt the name Connor and he joined the 'Assassin Order' then the American Revolution came and he sided with the leaders of the revolution (George Washington and Benjamin Franklin), during the war he became the leader of a warship which sailed the Caribbean Sea (i think thats what that demo was about on the ship)

Re: Has the Multiplayer contributed to Assassin's Creed downfall?

I think AC2 showed a big improvement on the first one, and the two sequels to it didn't add as much new stuff.  However, it's obvious that a lot of that is to do with development time.  I think Ubisoft even mentioned it themselves.

AC3 looks immense.  It seems they have nailed it for improvements and changes, targeting the exact areas that were getting stale.  In the latest video one of the developers was saying that although they aimed to have everything work in a new way, there were one or two things they retained because it made sense, but they reworked them.

AC Multiplayer probably hasn't detracted from the story.

Yes they said they were spin offs. Which I guess helped them fund AC3 lol. Plus develop obvs. Really looking forward to it :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Has the Multiplayer contributed to Assassin's Creed downfall?

I don't think the multiplayer hasn't been the downfall of the last two games... I think it is more that the last two games have been GTAIV LATD/BOGT style expansions... and the fans who were blown away by AC2 want a sequel to do the same again... Hopefully we will get it with AC3..

As others have said... Brotherhood was alright, but it could have been DLC... the focus was more on side missions, expanding the Assassins Guild and experimenting into the online arena.... Rev however I think bombed more than it got things right... the strategy game and Desmond sections were terrible..

It's a good question for all single player genres though... Uncharted, Dead Space, Bioshock, GTAIV/RDR... I certainly don't think any of them needed multiplayer, and aside from Uncharted 2, I've never played any more than about half an hour of any of the online modes anyway...

I do think Uncharted 3 wasn't quite as good as Uncharted 2... obviously the MP has nothing to do with that, as it was in both... I think they just lost something with the script writing and game direction.. and focused too much on the setpieces, which ironically were brilliant and pushed the game to a level which exceeded even Uncharted 2...

Bioshock 2 I don't think multiplayer was to blame... I just don't think the sequel was as fresh or original in ideas. Dead Space I think it was more it lost some impact by going the actiony shooter route, just like F.E.A.R 2 did, sacrificing some of the chill... GTAIV, well I go against the grain of popular opinion in that I enjoyed it more overall than San Andreas...

It's not a game from an offline only franchise, but I think Resistance 2 suffered because of the online focus... it was like by putting all the effort into the co-op stuff they somehow wrote and developed a crap single player, which retconned more than it expanded the first game, and tried too hard to be Halo..

Re: Has the Multiplayer contributed to Assassin's Creed downfall?

Its funny because in regards to Dead Space & Bioshock i actually prefered the sequels to the originals so i dont feel bringing in MP made Dead Space 2 or Bioshock 2 any less great, i loved Brotherhood but Revelations feels like a chore to play
