Stoooopid money grabbing ******

"Both also include spiritual and religious tones, assassinations, and characters experiencing historical events through their ancestors’ memories. "Ubisoft have directly copied, and directly and contributorily infringed on the whole of Plaintiff’s copyrighted work," the lawsuit claims. "Link" was first published in 2003"

Surely nearly every historical book could be said to be similar. So, Stephen Spielberg is going to sue Sony for using "treasure hunting" as an Uncharted story and that means it's Indian Jones. Whatever.

However I have not read the book in question? I have a quick "look inside" on Amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Link-Beiswenger-John-L/dp/0741413485/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=13348363... Seems to have a similiar story indeed? Similar doesn't mean copied though. They must just pay him off. -_-

Re: Ubisoft being sued D:

I wonder how long it takes for a game to go from concept to finished product.

If they can prove they had the idea before his book came out, they shouldn't have a problem

funny how people are quick to say that developers and publishers should be able to protect their ip but woe betide anyone else   :Shame:

gota love the 3 1 star reviews by idiotic gamers with a grudge.

the guy had probably never heard of assassins creed until someone else most likely pointed out the similarities

Re: Ubisoft being sued D:

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed story may have similarities to the book but nothing is ever original these days, if an idea is thought of then someone else has most likely already had those exact thoughts.

It isn't the ideas that make a good story, it's the way you show those ideas and I have never read "link" but just going from the article I wonder if "link" has an assassin who is trying to create a better world for the people by removing those who seek to enslave the populus.

Just going by the article all it mentions is a device similar to the animus and apple of eden and those little discs from revelations but nothing more

Re: Ubisoft being sued D:

I think Ubisoft can handle this.....The book is hardly recognised or popluar and this ''author'' is just looking for some quick cash.
