I set mine to 4 for bfbc2.
Just switch mic to "Do not Use" for mic setting, then switch to whatever level you want, then switch back to using the mic as the input settings.

Hi.
Nope, it won't hold the settings. As soon as I press the Use / Enable button, the changes I made revert back to 3 again.
Any other thoughts?
This is ridiculous.

The PS3 firmware does the noise canceling for this headset.
Allowing you to Alter the mic volume Alters the noise canceling making noise canceling POINT LESS.
So they LOCK the mic level at 3. So the User can not mess up the quality of the headset.
To disable the Firmware Features you must pair it in Blue-tooth mode not USB mode.
But then you disable the reason for buying the sony head set in the first place.
Nosie canceling
XMB features
Extended battery life.
The question is WHY ? is your voice to low. when others are to high in volume with this headset...
When you play on CO-OP on BF3 you can test the quality of the headset in Blue-tooth pairing mode.
Untill the patch for Vs mode you won't be able to test it.

Hi Graphite.
Thanks for the reply, and info.
The reason I wanted to try adjusting the vol of the mic was because other players had said they could hardly hear me. I could hear them just fine in my ear-piece, but they said I was very quiet, and almost impossible to hear me properly.
I will try it again on another game, and again after the "cough, cough" patch tomorrow and see what happens.
I am also wondering if it is because of my surround sound system picking up on the mic, even though it is not set too loud, and is to blame for others not hearing me properly, but I did mute my sound system if I recall correctly?
But I was under the impression that this V2.0 model was so good it would be OK to use like this, remember the ad on the TV where there was a fire truck or ambulance in the background, but his friend could still hear him just fine?
Thanks.

Ratchet says his Denon's sound great on BF3
, not much use for comms but they sound great.
Can't vouch my Sennheisers though as my TV has no where for me to plug them in
so I have to use the SCART which is conveniently split two ways. Normal bit connecting the TV to the PS3 but also has red/white audio to my guitar amp. But I can't seem to find the right balance on it
. On low volumes it (the amp) crackles and hisses on high volume its like http://www.youtube.com/watchv=T0wm3JwXbLs#t=1m18
