A question for the Battlefield Veterans, from a newcomer!

Right, here goes.

I want to make sure I'm playing Battlefield 'properly', and I know that each class has an ability which is beneficial to the team. I am a new player, having only ever played 1943 so I've no real experience other than the BETA.

Therefore, my question is this:

"What abilities come with classes, and how are they used/activated."

I'm pretty sure that with this being an influential part of the game, that the dynamics of this will be similar to BC:BC.

Thank You! :smileyhappy:

[ Edited ]

u got

Engineer

Assault

Medic

Recon

Engineer

Primary role is to help your team, it has weapons capable of taking out tanks, helicopters and other mehcanical vehicles.. using a choice of unlocks such as auto lock RPG's, mines, tracer darts and also has a tool repair your mates said vehicles.

Assault

You could call this the run and gun class, because they have some nice rifles to use, etc, they also hold a abilty of "supply" which can supply your team mates with ammo.. ammo is needed quite often, so dropping ammo crates in busy places will earn  you 10 points every few seconds, if you use it wisely :smileyhappy:

They have the grenade launchers on the guns aswell. many "attack orientated" weapons in your face get out of my way sort of thing..

Medic

Well.. u know this one right? lol.

Heal and revive your team, you will also have access to LMG weapons and the m60 unlock is a beast!

Recon

AKA sniper, usually frowned upon if your rubbish, look at this video to see how some snipers justs it on hills and wait to be killed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fv94TX2ThcI anyways, sniper can be good, they also have an option to use shotguns like many of the other classes, but yes the primary unlocks are biggger badder rifles - they also have access to mortar binoculars and c4, the role of a sniper imo is better if your on defense, pick off the attackers trying to come into your base.

Other:

In the full game you can mix guns and specs,so for now thats prolly all i can tell you, but recons usually get hunted down and killed alot, because they just sit there and shoot the whole match and don't help the team much.

Its a big debate to go into.

However, i think the best way to find out what role you want, is to play a class and see what suits you the best, if you like helping friends by healing them, medic is good, if your a run n get in peoples faces use assualt, like to sit back and do not alot? recon would be for you.. and of course if you are that guy who would be tank owning with a squad/clan mate, a good engineer is always appreciated :smileyvery-happy:

Of course someone flying a heli will pick up engineers for some pwnage and leave a sniper, because one can fix the heli if needed the other cannot :smileytongue:

What he said.

Il just say if you go sniper you HAVE to be taking on the tanks. You can nullify them real quick n easy with your laser designators and c4 charges...

Of course... When your charging up to the tank you may feel... All of a sudden... Rather lonely and small. But its part of your job and will be worth a hell of alot more than a couple of headshots.

On BFBC I used to relish the first wave of tanks coming in to attack.... Could really rack em up after a while.

Basically what everyone else has said before and Symonator I hate it when Defenders go on that hill when your attacking had it before where most of the team was there with the medic class just killing people landing and revivng one another :smileysad:

Re: A question for the Battlefield Veterans, from a newcomer!

Thank you very much! :smileyvery-happy:

That was brilliant info, and I'm sure to set off on the right foot now. :smileyhappy:

I do like to snipe, and I tried my hand at it in the BETA...I could hit stationary targets at range, but moving targets were a lot harder and I only ever hit one. :smileysad:

I would want to try and snipe, however I'm not the sort to snipe all the time. So I'll be sure to mix it up and try snipe when defending etc.

I'm pretty handy with most guns so I guess I'll play a variable role within a team.

Once again, thank you very much.

P.S. If anyone has space on their FL for a newbie like myself, I'd love to play alongside some experienced players to gain advice and tactics etc.

Re: A question for the Battlefield Veterans, from a newcomer!

Today I witnessed the complete FAILURE of having a whole team of snipers attacking. I was an engineer trying to storm A, and was taking out 2/3 people each life but I was just getting over-run all the time whilst my team sat on the hill looking for pot-shots. :Shame:

Re: A question for the Battlefield Veterans, from a newcomer!

Just had a wonderful evening playing BF:BC2, won 4 games in a row with a trusty forum squad....was the top scorer in each game too. :smileyvery-happy:

How many points do people find themselves averaging?

Yea I noticed ALOT of people trying (and failing) at being sniper...

Started off as assualt guy and got frustrated at all the inept snipers... Switched to sniper, got aload of kills and took out 4 tanks = mvp 3500 points :smileytongue:
