EA has released information on Battlefield 3: Aftermath, set amidst a post-earthquake Tehran where a continuous struggle for supremacy and survival exists amongst the devastation.
Here’s the official word:
“With operational capacity severely compromised the opposing forces must adapt and engage in vertical and horizontal urban combat amongst the dust and rubble with cracks and fissures in the terrain providing unexpected cover and paths to objectives.
“Additional support comes in the form of heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy.”
KEY FEATURES
Urban warfare on four new maps
Fight through the dust and rubble, use the earthquake damaged terrain to your tactical advantage
New heavily modified military and civilian vehicles – ingenuity and firepower combined
New game mode
New weapons
New assignments, achievements and dog tags
Aftermath is slated for release in December.
Last nights news not posted yet
Anyway it all sounds got to me, I'd love to see a dynamic urban level that changes over the game i.e. buildings collapse blocking routes, and tremors/quakes change the ground around you ![]()

I think the article got it wrong. There shouldn't be any new weapons with Aftermath.
But it will come with some new vehicles.
"New heavily modified military and civilian vehicles – ingenuity and firepower combined"
Nothing mentioned about weapons on the official site. Can't wait to see a trailer for this pack.

It would be great if buildings collapsed at random because of the quakes. I liked the 'nuke' level from killzone 2, was it southern hills or something? the point is you battle the environment as well as the enemy and occasionally sacrificed yourself by staying outside to capture the propaganda speaker but then died in the blast.
While people might complain about the inevitable 'Bad Luck' deaths, an active map terrain might really step the game up a notch, what if the ground shakes randomly causing everyone to suffer suppression at the same time? meaning we all have to switch to pistols or risk hitting nothing?
The only active element I can think of at the moment is the scripted falling of the radio mast on Caspian Border. This DLC will give DICE a chance to explore the limits of their map design by placing flag captures in collapsing buildings, and probably other devious ideas we haven't even thought of.
Some people will do anything to win, maybe that will be the test. There's a good chance they won't do any of that though and it'll just be 4 new maps, which will be disappointing if so, i'd say they could have done much more. Even the Beta had flexible terrain of sorts, you could hide in the hole left by an explosion.
