Omg m8, where has anyone said you should get points for "just popping one off"
, me and at least one other person have already stated that it would have conditions i.e. close to enemies, m-coms, repairing or c4ing tanks. Also please elaborate on "clunky mechanics", I don't see it. Finally all other classe have atleast two means of gaining bonus points:
Engineer: Vehicle kills and vehicle destruction, Vehicle repair
Medic: Reviving and healing
Recon: Spotting (both mine and scope upgrade), Mortars very easily take out M-coms in destructable buildings as well as Marksman headshot bonuses (I believe distance dependant)
So why the hell should't assualt boy get bonus points for their extra input aswell as ammo restocking.
I mean really WHY NOT?, If anything in most games I play Assault guys are the ones who do the most confrontational jobs, not cowering in bushes chewing on leaves like summin that escaped from the local zoo.

You maybe don't get points for it because it's computationally really hard to evaluate. The MCOM stations would be obvious candidates for arm/disarm assists, but forget line of sight checks and choke point evaluation.

Why, you get avenger, saviour, defensive and offensive bonuses which are all situationally determined, either by prior actions or an effective area i.e. killing an enemy within a certain radius of an M-com/flag whether defending or attacking will give you bonus points on top of the regular kill points, but whatever I don't think they're gonna change it now but it wouldn't be impossible, it a simple situational command with a few variables.

This is true, but they are easy to determine numerically. Which is why I mentioned the arm/disarm assist, because that wouldn't be too much trouble, although it would still probably be dodgy (but you have your origin which you can attach an effective radius to).
I guess choke points could be marked out on the maps by a designer as either a radius or rectangle. But then you'll wonder why you didn't get points one day because your smoke grenade was just outside the area. Or you smoked up what you thought was a choke point, but a designer didn't. And then you have the added complication that choke points may not be so forever, what with destruction 2.0 'n' all.
Don't forget that what you can see and evaluate with your eyes is very different to how a computer perceives and responds to the game world.

Instead of there being choke points why doesn't it just be simpler where if someone cptures a flag, defends a flag, destroys/disarms an m-com, kills an enemy with in the smoke you've created (Surely it can identify that) you get assists points.

Because it takes a random amount of grenades to provide complete smoke cover, so there would still need to be a measurement of smoke per square metre or something to assess the level of cover. You couldn't just give points because someone fired a smoke grenade then captured a flag.
If you pardon the pun - it's too much of a grey area ![]()
