BF: Bad Company 1 - Has EA shut it down?

Planning on buying BF:BC2 soon, and tried going online on BF:BC1 and it comes up with saying I cannot connect to EA servers.

 

Never had this problem before when I played it last time which was last year.

And I'm on Virgin Broadband if that helps...

I hope not. I was thinking about going for platinum on that game once I've finished #2.

Grr this is well annoying, I don't know much about routers and ports etc, but tried restarting it and still no luck. :/

 

Hopefully BF:BC2 won't have this problem for me...

feeling rather hesitant in buying that now.

Welcome to the wonderful world of EA servers! One day they can be fine then others complete crap.

I've been playing BF:BC2 for over a week now without any problems until this weekend. All weekend i've either not been able to connect to servers or once in a game i lose connection to ea servers half way through (yet i'm still signed into the PSN), also the same on Fifa which again runs on EA servers - Know of another three friends over the UK having the same issues. All other online games seemed to work fine over the weekend though.
