Re: Buffed Stinger

I'm not so sure, the range is down a LOT, maybe even 30%. Spent most of the time staring through the scope waiting and waiting for stuff to come into range, all that scope squinting makes you feel like a sniper.

Re: Buffed Stinger

It;s great so far from the little I've used it, nice taking down a chopper in 1 hit. At least disabling it anyway.

Re: Buffed Stinger

I like the new Stinger. I guess a trade off had to be made with the range. Can't have people dominating the airspace from the ground. At least Rea... I mean, people won't be raining terror from the sky any more.

Id agree with you mate. The range has been butchered. Ive already posted this in another topic but its a great example - I couldn't lock onto a chopper capturing a capture point that was only 130 meters away. It wasn't till I was less than a hundred meters that I got a lock. Granted it now locks faster, doesn't lose lock from flares an disables in one missile but I still consider it a stinger nerf. Pre-patch it was better. Sure it took an age to lock, pesky flares broke the lock an it would take 2/3 missiles to disable but you could at least be a distracting nuisance to a pilot due to its long range. Thats mainly what I used it for so it would allow the ground forces some room to breathe. Ill try the Stinger again later but I fear the choppers are relatively safe at a couple of hundred meters and this could lead to flyboy dominance

Just played Rush on Damavand. I was pretty much using the Stingers only just to test them.

My test shows me that. The distance to lock on is very random. There are times a chopper is right in front of me & I can't lock on.

Sometimes I lock on, shoot, he uses flares, I try to lock on, distance hasn't change, & I'm just not locking on.. They've really *****ed this up.

It is completely random now. The chopper could be 20 feet, to a 100 feet. 9 times out of 10. I couldn't get a lock on at either distance. I never used stingers before the patch, now I know not to use them after this patch.

Re: Buffed Stinger

Could that be the 'Below Radar' spec at work? I think I read somewhere its working correctly now in choppers and it should prevent lock on if he stays close to the terrain. I could be wrong though.

You might be right. Would need others to try it out for themselves just to confirm. I thought the ''below'' radar was only to hide away from other Jets/ Choppers.

Update: Just checked BF wiki. Yeah, it's below radar working. Pretty annoying though!

Below Radar decreases the thermal signature of aircraft flying at low altitude. It hinders spotting and prevents weapon lock from heat-seeking weapons. It is activated after flying at low altitude for about 3 seconds preventing enemy heat-seeking air-to-air missiles to lock on to the player's aircraft. It does not however, prevent hand-held surface-to-air missiles from locking on to the aircraft.

Compared to Stealth, it allows helicopters to be more effective at close ground support. Low-flying aircraft are, however, more vulnerable to ground fire, including unguided or wire guided rockets, as well as fire from armored vehicles
