Chopper help!

Mr. I wrote me details on flares and stuff but I can't find the post :smileysad: I have no unlocks for the chopper so when I'm in a viper. . .i can be gunner. . .and I can shoot the gun. I push the other button and get a beep (I assume this is just saying I have nothing enabled). . . Looking at the HUD in some videos it only shows the guys ammo for his gun and you here him saying "flares" or whatever but there is no inclination of how he used flares or whatever. :smileysad:

Also. . .i know that ECM or something is a passive upgrade. . .but do flares for the gunner, or pilot take away a rocket? Like do you get the standard rockets AND something else (like flares or heat seekers)? What about the gunner. . .does he get flares and his gunner, or do flares come free from the beginning :smileyfrustrated:

I don't really know that much about choppers but that beep you heard was probably the flares.  You just have to go into the vehicle setup page, that will show what you have and what you can use together.

 

As the gunner you get the gun, flares and air to ground missiles (thats all I've got so far)

 

As the pilot ECM will replace your flares, not sure on the missile front though, I have rocket pods and air to air

 

Edit, there's also radar, scan, stealth all sorts, you just have to decide what you want when unlocked

ECM is an active upgrade. You decide when to activate it just like flares using R1. ECM only breaks lock before they fire and then prevents them locking on for 4.5 seconds, though when timed right can be used to evade an incoming missile.

 

Flares will cause all guided fired missiles to miss though at the minute are buggy against laser guided.

 

Pilot can chose either ECM or Flares (amongst other things). ECM is not available to gunners.

 

Pilot weapons are the same tank drivers L1 fire, R1 Counter measures. Helicopter gunners are the same as tank gunners L1 optics or counter measures, R1 fire

 

There is a "beep" that sounds when flares are fired, a double "beep" when flares are back. ECM has a different "beep" followed by electronic noises (like dial up internet) the same beep will indicate that it has finished jamming (can't remember if there's a tone to indicate if its ready again like flares. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sp4eVbAaauM

 

Gunners HUD displays your counter measures in the bottom left corner "IR FLARES" then below READY or WAIT (flashing)

 

Pilot counters top left corner will either be IR FLARES/ECM JAM/EXTINGUISHER ect READY/WAIT (flashing)

 

Remeber you get one weapon, 1 active (coutner measure/optics) and one passive upgrade

I finished the chopper service medal yesterday, that was my 48th. Only one medal left now then i've got all 50, Woohoo :smileyhappy:

After doing that service medal I don't care if I never see a chopper again, I hated every minute of it and my favourite was always the US team Huey. Its got great handling and its awesome for capping flags on maps like Gulf of Oman.

Plus you're acting as a mobile spawn for your team and if you can actually fly and land the thing safely without killing everyone on board, you'll be joining me in the minority group of taxi chopper experts. Below radar works in it too, and it has flares. Like other transport vehicles though if you score anything whilst in it, it will go to the kit you're wearing.

I did that tonight on Wake Island, I capped about 5 bases before ditching the heli for the AA tank.  It is a good way to rank it up

Sort of right. What I ment is you get an extra weapon. Pilot has rockets by default and can add heat seekers. Gunners get the canon as standard and can add either a guided missile (same as guided tank shells) or the TV missile.

 

The guided rockets upgrade for the pilot is a passive upgrade. What it does is move the the rockets as the travel towards the target, aim with "i bar" and if your shooting a moving targtet the rocket drifts inline with the ibar .

Edit: Just noticed I am 16 kills away from having 1234 kills in the T90 :smileyvery-happy:

 

Edit: Just noticed that my sig says I have 8 tank service stars, I have 9 service stars. Its not updated yet :smileysad: I missed 1234 kills :smileysad:
