i have been wondering for a while how do i set bf3 to use DTS instead of Dolby Digital, after searchin the net for a bit the only way that i seem to be able to use DTS is to disable Dolby Digital

Yep DTS is not the Preset Audio codec DD5.1 is... there is no in game over ride.
Normaly if you have DTS amp you would de tick DD5.1 But they forgot about Crappy DVD that Don't come with DTS in EU. So we have to stick DD5.1 on.
This only applies to optical connections as PCM 5.1 is better than both via HDMI.

Optical HDTV output
Pros
Up to DD5.1 out put on all HDTV watched content.
Cons
Some content will only be DD 2.1
Lose all DTS out put normaly.
The PS3 allready converts out put audio to DTS when it can. ( BD, DVD) DTS not allowed from HDD video files content.
