TDM wasn't ideal for mortars because everyone is running around like crazy and if they see your mortar icon on the mini map they'll drop everything to come and knife you.  You need a good place where they can't get to you easily or they don't want to because they're busy with an objective,  and target a busy area with much confusion where people gather from both sides in greater numbers.   A chokepoint. 

Conquest mode on Grand Bazaar ticks both boxes,  targeting the middle flag and surrounding alleyways.  It worked for me,  but it isn't the only place,  i'm sure there are similar places in Rush mode where everyone is fighting over an MCOM in a tight space.  Also on Conquest but in Seine Crossing, there are some narrow passages perfect for mortars and if you aim to hit the building front a little it takes the entire building face away and often kills the guys inside and people standing outside too.  

The Laser designation I did on bit on Caspian but mostly on Operation Firestorm.  You can get it using the CITV station on the tank,  but sadly not by using the laser painter / guided missile combo in the little bird.  The SOFLAM was the best way for me and it'd be awesome if you had a friend working Javelin for you - but I didn't.  

I set up the SOFLAM on a building rooftop at the base of the mountain on the U.S. side,  its across the highway over the road from where all the action is,  but its a central point on the map covering a large area with a good view of the sky.  I didn't bother targeting tanks,  they normally just stop and destroy the device,  I concentrated mostly on choppers.  You won't get many points doing it but you will get the hits you need for the medal.

well done on getting all 50 , i did it on bfbc2 not medals but same thing .Nice 2 see people go after other than KD my hat 2 you.
