Helicopter Do's and Don'ts

Yes i know there i already a Helicopter Tips thread, but i saw this on the EA Battlefield forums and thought it would be really useful.

I take no credit for the below Tips.

Do's (Pilot)

  • Repair your vehicle often! (Around 60% is a good time to bring the bird done for a fix up)
  • Respect your Gunner! He should be racking up most of your points!
  • Take out the Anti Aircraft cannons!
  • Fire your missiles at the Gold Crates!
  • Move slowly when not under attack to give your gunner a good view!
  • Wait for a gunner to get in before taking off where possible.
  • Take out AA guns even if no one is in them.

Don'ts

  • Go charging over the enemy base like a mad man twisting and turning, your Gunner can't aim properly!
  • Crash into trees!! (kinda obvisous)
  • Nose dive enemy tanks, you may not make it back into the air.
  • Go it alone.
  • Fire at something you will only hit with a few rockets from one salvo. (i.e fast moving hummers and sand buggys = waste of rockets)
  • Fly low unless absolutely necessary.

Do's (Gunner)

  • Repair your vehicle often! If the pilot lands, and he is not Support, leave the vehicle and repair!
  • Respect your Pilot! His job is to evade oncoming fire whilst you destroy the enemy! (basically if he and you are talking don't mouth off at him if you can't fly it anyway
  • Destroy Anti Aircraft cannons!
  • Fire are the Gold Crates, when possible!
  • Destroy Light Tanks before Heavy Tanks!
  • Prioritise your targets, support gunners and Demolitions they are a lot more dangerous than a specialist or an assault then Hummers and Light tanks.

Don'ts

  • Don't ever get in the pilots seat if you have never flown a heli before < I CAN'T STRESS THAT ENOUGH
  • Fire at the floor directly below the Helicopter when you land!, or when taking off.
  • Hold down the trigger! Fire in bursts, and make sure your gun does NOT overheat!

excellent work AstroZombie, now for one of my own.... Gunners shoot FF$ so many times i've had gunners just look at the landscape while I hover over the enemy base.

As a Pilot, I will try to take out the tanks and fly as smoothly as is humanly possible, just to make things easier for the gunner.

Yorkshirepud, if you're flying and i'm on the recieveing end, I'm off the server.

yer but dont forget if a gunner is doing that its down to 2 things:

a. the pilot sucks with angles
b.the gunner has no idea where the front of the heli is

:smileyhappy:

ive been looking at all your heli stats and they are actually kinda weak lol.
i have 160 kills and 13 death as a heli pilot :smileyhappy: u lot have just 20 or 30 .. :smileyhappy: how come? i thought thats what u all do .. lol!

Heli     ah64

kills      198

deaths  13

k/d           15.7

roadkills 1

I have 196 kills vs 15 deaths in the AH64 (KD = 13.06667) and 29 kills vs 2 deaths in the KA52 (KD = 14.5)...

(It would be more, but the game crashed 3 times on Sunday, each time I was in the chopper, and it cost me about 1200 points :smileysad: )

But I choose not to put others down because they don't spend as much time as me in the chopper :smileytongue:

If they all did, we wouldn't get a chance would we?
