In just normal conquest not hardcore. All my teammates do it what kind of advantage does it give?

Wouldn't turning the mini-map off be a disadvantage because you won't see where the people shooting afar are? I actually hardly look at the mini-map and only notice it when there is a bunch of orange things on it

Nope. 

All of my teammates have turned theirs off.

I can't ask them they are far too busy being blind sided by the enemy that is obviously marked on the minimap.
