Re: Mr Incs. diary

Had our first real ceremony today. Its memorial day in the US and as we were due to go to the cemetery today we were part of it. We were all in drill kit our staff all in there No. 2s. USAF there in their ***** over decorated silly uniforms. There was a few US navy including a rear admiral plus our regiment and company brass. There was an ex SAS guy there in his tan beret with the winged sword :smileysurprised:

We just stood there which sounds easy. But it was baking and we couldnt move an inch. Every now and again we had to stand to attention but that was it. The people around me had a nice view in the form of 2 proper fit blondes in little summer dresses. Rather conveniently we had to be facing fowards and these 2 were right opposite me :smileyvery-happy:. One of our platoon passed out and unlucky for him he was in the front rank and fell flat his face  our platoon commander stood to attention, right turned and marched over and dragged him away. Might of fainted but you still do your drill properly

They fired few volleys of M1 Garrand and some other stuff. Bit dull really but feel very privileged to have taken part as this was a proper US millitary ceremony and to have memorial day fall on a Sunday on the week we have realities of war on at the same time are very slim. Won't happen for another 7 years so our company was very lucky to take part in that

Re: Mr Incs. diary

Was on exercise last week. Can't say I enjoyed it. Tabbed there then had to do a snap ambush incase we were being followed. Then went to set our patrol harbor up which basically is digging a hole to knee height with room for two people lying prone. Did a few lessons on cammo n concealment then went into returning fire when being shot at and section tactics. That bit was good but the rest was not fun, I had sentry twice every night worst was at 4am finish at 5am with wake up set for 0530 will post more later

Re: Mr Incs. diary

Bit strange having a rifle in your sleeping bag, then you remember its loaded with a full 30 round mag. Start thinking have I made read? is the safety on? The muzzle is awfully close to my ear, hope the chamber is clear. Then before you have had any sleep its your time for stag, combat shirt on, webbing on, helemet on, pick rifle up head tongue sentry shell scrape, freeze your nipples off, start have very strange lucid dreams..

Very strange on the stag when you have had next no sleep the night before. Sat in the hole hallucinating

Cant edit posts on my phone :smileysad: posted the last one before I'd finished it.
