Does anybody know how to stop dogfights from becoming two people circling each other waiting for somebody to make a mistake.

That is exactly what a dogfight is :smileyvery-happy:

Jets circling each other until someone messes up, its a chess game.  A chess game played in million dollar jets. Million dollar jets that fire death and destruction at hundreds of rounds per second.

Re: MusterBuster's Pro Tips for Pilots

When that happens to me, I dive for the deck, skim the ground with afterburners on over a mountain and as soon as I'm over the ridge, hit the brakes and turn to face my attacker. In a head to head, which the previous move ends in usually, pull up as you turn to face them as you lose speed faster and turn quicker.

Re: MusterBuster's Pro Tips for Pilots

i think its a surprise how much twisting turning rolling and looping can throw someone off, especially if they dont have air radar. ive lost numerous pursuers by just doing a barrel roll :smileyhappy: :smileyvery-happy:

Re: MusterBuster's Pro Tips for Pilots

Heres a tip for anyone in a helicopter or jet with IR missiles.

When you lock an enemy, and fire, dont fire both missiles. You know in advance that they will flare. YOU KNOW IT. And then they will fire both missiles back, even though they know you will flare. THEY KNOW IT.

After this waste of missiles, pilots end up in a magical death ballet trying to keep each other locked whilst spamming R1 begging the Gods of BF to reload their missiles before they lose lock or the enemy reloads flares.

Try firing one missile instead. When your enemy fires 2 back (which they always do) you will have already relocked them and will have a shot ready. You get one hit for free.

Then your third missile loads and you can fire it off... even if they flare it, your fourth will Definately hit again. But to be honest, you will probably hit with the third missile too.

When I use this tactic, enemy pilots panic flare or try to escape (maybe thinking  there must be a stinger too?)

Its a glorious tactic and I swear by it these days.

Re: MusterBuster's Pro Tips for Pilots

^ Been doing that for ages - works a treat :smileywink:

And I'm sure I read the patch fixes the lock break when they flare, which should only make the tactic even better...

Re: MusterBuster's Pro Tips for Pilots

consequently if you think its a stinger or chopper locking onto you, and your in a jet, just turn and burn, chances are you will get out of range before they can fully lock onto you. if you want to attack a chopper, do it from above. all the pilot can do is tilt back if he is desperate to get you, you might even force him to reverse into the ground if he is nooby enough

and ive seen experienced pilots do this, not naming names lol.....
