Re: No one uses laser guided weapons

this can only really work if you team up with someone you know, cant count on randoms, i spend a round painting the same tank over and over again and a few planes flying around and nobody shot them

so if one guy is engineer with javlin and the other guy is a recon with the soflam (i think the mav can work too and is more mobile)

recon guy marks them up and the eningeer takes them out

Re: No one uses laser guided weapons

no, the soflam can only spot enemy units and laser paint vehicles.

the mav is used for scouting (spotting units) as well as destroying enemy equipment. like radio beacons, T-UGS and even other MAV's.

if the mav had the only feature of the soflam, what would it be there for?

i once joined a random game on my own, saw that a squad member placed the soflam, but wasnt painting any targets. i ran over to him, shot him (vanilla mode) to get his attention, and jumped in front of his face while holding the javelin in my hands.

he immediately knew what to do and started painting away. great work, stranger!

Re: No one uses laser guided weapons

any idea how much points a recon class will get per successfull lazer designation

if its only 20xp or something this may be why very few do this.

i sat spotting with a solfam a few times and never got an assist

Re: No one uses laser guided weapons

You can leave the soflam to paint targets on it's own. I was playing on Gulf of Oman a while ago and left it alone, and it was painting a chopper quite happily. Got the wheels a bit wrong, but after a while it looked so real, I wanted to go for a ride on it.
