Sometimes, i play the co-op and campaign part of BF3 but had not played the campaign for about 3 weeks.

Yesterday, went on to play and my save picks up on Op Swordbreaker, just after you've defused the bomb. The game loads fine but when i go to run outside side, the game says - 

Saving....

....and then goes back to main menu when up pops

Failed to connect to EA Online.

Online play for MP or co-op is fine but not campaign.

Any ideas?

I don't really want to restart the campaign again......

Try deleting BF3 game data from the game data utility

Before you try that, try using chapter select to resume the campaign where you were. The most you lose is any progress in your current chapter. The campaign will play through from the chapter you select, and it won't negatively affect any campaign trophies.

Excellent suggestion. I don't love the campaign enough to start again! Sometimes the easiest ideas are the best.
