So I got the heli at start and then some others joined and we took off, but I don't know what I'm expected to do at that point. Go to the nearest flag and drop them off? If so, by landing or just hoovering above so they can jump out? Will they want to join the helicopter again? Is it really optimal to have four people in the helicoper other than as transport? Can they all shoot?
In general, are helis good for flag taking or is it mostly just flying around and shooting? Seems a little risky to land too often.
Either way, they're fun.

Normally I just drop whoever wants to be dropped off at the safest objective, most of the time there is no point of them going back in the heli so I just fly off and do my own thing until I see a stranded team mate so I will offer my Helicopter taxi service to the battlefield or until someone spawns on me then I will just simply drop them off again unless they prove useful. If it's safe to do so and can keep the heli steady then it's a quick, cheeky way to take a flag, especially if the heli is full and there are team mate on the ground as well. I don't go in Heli's often though, I'm more of a fighter pilot lol and then I hate helicopters! Lol.

Be easy on the controls no sudden movements or you'll and any passengers will need new underwear and either a towel or respawn ![]()
You need to be able to multitask a bit in a helicopter. Constantly have to make minor changes to the amount of pitch, roll and yaw whilst feathering the throttle, watching out for obstacles (lampposts seem to be my nemesis) looking for/evading enemies. Don't want to brag but I can drink a cup of tea whilst flying a chopper ![]()
Once you start to get a feel for the handling a bit more you will start to be able to develop your own tactics that suit you by trial and error. Then you'll also get better at manoeuvres. Before I used have to slow down, stop, turn and then pitch forward to turn around. Now I can just do a normal "U" turn and depending on how much room I have and the helicopter I can turn on a sixpence (though that sometime is followed by a change of boxers and an apology to the gunner who I teamkilled
)
You can try capturing flags with choppers but its risky. Easy for a tank to take you out. Also you need a bit of practice at stopping quickly in a controlled way.

I have no idea what the passengers want, that's what I want to find out, if there is a pattern of some sort. Especially in the beginning of the game if they fill up the heli. At a later point I usually don't get a full heli and it's also understood that there aren't any self-evident way to go forward (like there might be at the beginning).
Assuming they want to get off the heli, am I expected to land or are they expected to just jump out, and if so should it be from a low altitude without parachute or higher altitude with parachute? Is there any inherent value to parachuting (good way to spot or something), or are they just sitting ducks?

What about releasing flares, do I have those from the start (without unlocking anything)? What button to release, and when? On youtube I saw the screen saying something like "L1 flares" soon after being locked on. Is it L1, does it always say when to release? Because I also read in a forum it's X (normally used to switch position), but then they didn't say on which console.
Well, will be playing soon and maybe I find answers then, but sometimes it's hard to figure it out in the heat of the battle, especially with missiles already on the way.

You have to unlock (and equip) flares, and when a missile has been fired at you, a prompt will come up with the button to press (which is R1 I think - in jets it is anyway).

Unless they show signs of staying with you like on a mini gin or stinger then just drop them off or they will jump out when they feel like it, they have no real use in a helicopter so just be the taxi service.

The biggest problem with the heli is getting to fly it at all, everyone is going for it it seems. It's especially difficult now when I'm not dying as often. I'm not ***** enough to ignore the game and just wait around at the pad. Lol.
