Well it's the only gun that seems to drop me like a sack of pooh, I haven't unlocked it yet so I can't fully say that it's overpowered but I think it might be. Is it?

Yes.

It was overpowered in BC2 and clearly it's carried over to BF3.

Time for a ballistics lesson 

On the right is a 9mm NATO round known as the 9mm parabellum. Used in loads of pistols and SMGs M9,M93, MP5, MP7. Most SMGs use either NATO or Russian versions of 9mm rounds

The one to the left of the 9mm is a .45 ACP as used in the M1911 but also the UMP .45 it a big old heavy thing its a lot heavier than the 9mm. The one of the far left is a .38 special which is basically a .357 magnum and is mainly there to stop the pound coin rolling away.

Low and behold everyone says its over powered just like people say in MW2 and BC2 and no doubt they will say it again in MW3

Considering a lot of the battles in the map are mostly medium to short range. The UMP should be pretty good, as doesn't it fire faster than the other guns? Plus SMG's are built for medium to short range..

It's pretty annoying all the same though, I'm just about to unlock it myself.

On another note.I'm glad shotguns can kill from across the map..Unless there is a perk for that..Is there?

It not.......only good close range and mid range but then ARs destroy it mid/long range.
Ruins the lower rank guns for sure. Not sure what it like against the higher rank guns.

The UMP is similar to how they have the M95 set up bigger bullet = bigger damage, quite a good logic really. Though the UMP is full auto

Been whoring the shotgun and its one hit kill any range with slugs. You have to hit their noggin at longer ranges for one hit. Flachettes seem the same as buck shot but with slightly better range and penetration. Frag rounds don't really know as I didn't particularly like them whilst playing with my swollen thumb as you have to aim better.

Currently have an M870, slugs, laser and the IR scope. My god its good at range. Few kills away from the x6 rifle scope. Awaits cloudbursts response Was using the ACOG before the IR scope. Have the laser for close range to help with accuracy.
