The PC version will have 64 players and bigger maps, its the better versionWas on about games on both consoles and PC in general rather than specifically BF3.
That's the only real reason (for me personally) to get it on PC, not that I will do.
@james its individual preference on control pads vs keyboard and mouse. Don't like the idea of point and click. Feels like a cheap tactic to me. I would much rather aim properly as to me its more satisfying than just hovering your mouse over some one till they drop.
As for mods I couldn't care. Mods is just another name for hacks. So I'd rather not have them. And the difference in graphics will only be really noticeable when you put them side by side and thats providing your computer can run it on it highest settings so probably there will be a lot of people playing it with lower quality graphics than the PS3/360 so its swings and roundabouts really
You
You seem to have hijacked this thread a little. The thread is about the PC specs to run BF3, not your preference in platforms. We get it, you dislike, cant afford or dont have a gaming rig so you'll play it on console, good for you...Thousands of other players will do the same.
I also think you got a keyboard and mouse control system confused with a light gun used at close range. As with DS3 pad, K&M is a great control system and lends itself well to FPS games genre, it certainly wouldnt allow for the point and click aiming style you discribed. Using keyboard and mouse takes skill and practice just as the DS3 pad does, no cheap tatics to see here I'm affriad.
"Mods". No they are not simply "hacks" as you so neatly packaged them. A game mod can chnage the entire game, how it looks, how it plays and even it's genre completely. Counter Strike? Ever heard of it? that was a "mod" to begin with...Now its a very popular full game. Some of those "hackers" as you call them, well they modded BF1942 so damn well (into a starwars game, modern combat, as well as others) that DICE and other companies now employ them to make new games - they most likely helped develop BFBC 1 & 2. for consoles.
Now back on topic. Op, the specs seems lower than I thought they would. A Core2Duo is a few gens old now in terms of CPU specs. Most newish systems (2 or 3 yrs old) should have this or above. The GPU specs arnt that high either.

Mods is not another name for hacks
Oh God. The fact that an awful lot of PC games give user mod tools, man, hacks? Seriously?
And I suppose you were against Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3 because it had mod support in the game? Sorry, hack support...
Any halfway decent PC with a dedicated GPU will be able to beat console versions for graphics, the PS3 (bar the Cell) is being held back quite badly by the lack of memory and the GPU in it, heck, the card in it was the recommended card for Battlefield 2.
As for keyboard and mouse, as Cylon_Surfer says, you seem to have got it mixed up with a light gun as it's far from just "hovering your mouse over some one till they drop," you'er aiming the same way you do on console, just quicker and more accurately because of the fact it's a mouse, and the higher resolution too afforded on PC's.
Plus if you don't like the KB&M on PC, just plug in a controller ![]()

Like I said before its personal prefrence and all the rest is swings and roundabouts.

Way to hijack the thread guys! I agree that PC is better for graphics/support. I've only ever played counter strike online years ago. PC will always have the better support/graphics.
With any new console released. It's graphics card alone will be out of date within a few months.
I really wish I could get into PC gaming. I'd love to play battlefield on the PC.
But saying as I'm not to smart with PC's on the upgrading side, plus I'm not sure I have the cash to start building a decent PC. Also that all my buddy's are on consoles. It's much cheaper for me just to buy the new consoles and stick with them..
It's a easy argument..PC will always win in terms of graphics and support. The mods are great. Especially for Valve games. Consoles are almost like buying a brand new PC every few years to play new games...Where PC's you just upgrade parts as you go.

i'm building a new pc this year so this is good to know, as always though, take the back of the box specs with a pinch of salt.
this myth about having to upgrade your computer or build a new one every 6 months is a crock of ***** also.
pc gaming doesnt have to be as expensive as people make out, it's entirely up to you what specs you have, unless you buy a pre-built and if so, then shame on you.

Ok I take that back about mods are hacks and I stand corrected.
But are the graphics that much better really? What I mean by that is when your playing are you going to notice the difference?
Already said mouse and keyboard vs control is personal preference and for me the controller wins hands down.
I know its going to have 64 players but BC2 has 24 and that is an awesome game

Frame rate and resolution definitely, they'll be very noticable.
As for the rest, depends how much attention you pay but it'll be reasonably noticable
