bipod more of a pain than help?

i use the g3a3 as my main gun,most of the time im using it in single fire mode so a grip isnt really needed,i could use the underslung and equip a noob tube or shotgun attachment but i find that when i use the underslung my kicked  from the server rate goes up quite a bit,even though the mass bug has been fixed so i usually run with a bipod instead..

my problem is the thing takes numerous attempts to get it to deploy,i can be lying on a flat surface with no obstructions in my way and the thing just wont deploy,i end up having to repeatedly move my right thumbstick up/down multiple times before it will deploy,i have also been killed many times trying to faff about getting it to deploy,i would be aswell just putting nothing in that slot as it seems to be more of a hindrance than help..

am i the only one that has this problem?

am i doing something wrong?

is it still bugged and what could dice do to sort it?

would having the bipod permanently deployed on your gun so when you go prone its already deployed?

how about adding a small recoil reduction regardless of wether its deployed or not be a good way to improve it,or would that make it overpowered?

advice/suggestions welcome :smileyhappy:

Never had a problem with it, are you using the button to deploy alone or with other buttons too?

I find that by pressing it alone when i go prone, it always works. Find it a really useful attachment too, gives you (i think) the greatest accuracy possible and is brilliant for killing with :smileyhappy: Wouldn't change a thing about it.

yes i go prone push L1(no other buttons) but most of the time i need to keep faffing about with it untill i see it actually deploy.

for me i find that when im prone and my gun isnt perfectly level with the ground (im talking inches not aiming way up in the air or too much at  the ground) or at a certain sweet spot it doesnt deploy...

makes quickly deploying it in the heat of battle a pain in the backside..(for me anyway)

I'm hoping in one of the DLC's they give us a Gatling type gun like your avatar.  It should take a while to set up so its not OP,  like say 5 or 6 seconds to deploy the bipod legs and spin up the barrels to speed.

It might be good on a big map like Armoured Kill,  where you could use it in a dug out position in the desert or a building.

not sure if serious,but yeah that would be cool,although sticking extended mags on the current lmg's basically turns them into a gatlin gun that spits out 200 rounds of death so adding one like in my avatar wouldn't be that different from whats already in the game..they would just need to make sure it was on par damage wise as the rest of the lmg's..:smileyhappy:

personally i would like to see an anti material sniper rifle added at some point,it should have the same damage against personal as the rest of the snipers (for balance) but have increased bullet penetration for shooting through walls/light cover and also have a damage boost against jeeps (perhaps the chance to hit the engine block for a disable) and a slight damage boost against heli/jets/boats.

it shouldn't be effective against say a tank due to the tank being alot slower than other vehicle's that would make it op..

Re: bipod more of a pain than help?

Hi.

I agree with Everything, and especially the bit about the sniper riffle damage.

I am tired of the bull***** damage in this game now, it's so hit and miss, pun intended.

You go into a match with the M240, with extended mag, set up the bipod and as you said, it should be pretty much insta death, but it's not.

The fact that some say it's flawless and others say it's useless speaks for itself.

Perhps if DICE stopped *****ing around with the guns then we might be able to get to grips with the game and use the weapons more effectively.

Take the M95 for example, the damage one of those things should do is frightening, and yet in here its silly.

The M95 in BFBC2 was fantastic, and so was the USAS, but hey, look what they did with the USAS in this game.

I think they have *****ed around with so much for so long now that they have lost the plot, and each "Patch" screws something else up.

Were back with the Suicides, Sound drops, Hit markers not marking / damaging etc etc.

Unlike the British Government, I actually learn from my mistakes . . .Seriously

Re: bipod more of a pain than help?

I think the problem is that you're trying to deploy the bipod while "perfectly level to the ground," that usually makes me aim down the sights which I think is the point so that you can draw your weapon fast in an emergency.

When I need to deploy the bipod I will go prone and then look up just a little and click L1 and it works nearly everytime. Give it a try, see if it helps.

I must say though I don't see the point in using bipods with assault rifles, its a great attachment with an LMG though.

Re: bipod more of a pain than help?

Yeah I was serious but I meant as a new gadget instead of the mortar rig,  maybe as a primary weapon it wouldn't work.

I was thinking it should have heavy damage against the jeeps that will run riot around the big armoured kill maps,  but in reality it probably wouldn't work and people would try and use it on Operation Metro.

Re: bipod more of a pain than help?

sorry not sure how to quote multiple post on the ps3...

@killerkipling

i agree alot of these tweaks and gun changes have been a pain in backside and dice seems to end up messing something up every patch,hopefully they are done with the tweaks now and start work on some of the bugs......

@Occident

thanks for the tip,ill give that a try and see how i get on.. i agree a bipod is probably best suited to an lmg,but as i mentioned i dont really need a grip and the underslung seems to just annoy people resulting in kick so i thought i may aswell use the bipod to help offset a little of the extra recoil i get from the heavy barrel,i can still use the gun effectively without it but it does help for the longer range shots..

@LSD-39

oh you mean as a gadget,i get you now,while a deployable gatling gun would be cool,as you said it would be devastating if used on the smaller maps,but they could always have them mounted at certain points on the map so you could man them much like the stationary weapons already in the game instead of having it as a deployable weapon,i can see that working..   :smileyhappy:

Its not a bad thought, to be able to set the location of your own static defenses.

Maybe a squad leader should get the role of setting up postitions, or to truly incorporate teamwork, one guy has to deply a tripod, then another guy has to deploy a gun onto a deployed tripod. So 2 people are needed to setup. That wouldnt be so bad. On big maps that is.

Although, it might upset the chopper guys... Know what I mean?
