Re: James Cameron's Avatar - The Official Thread

The Predators would win easily

Re: James Cameron's Avatar - The Official Thread

I wouldn't say that it is crap... just that it isn't original and has been done before. Avatar is a bit like Uncharted 1..... it's all been done before, but this time it is very polished and has a top rate production.

Polished is exactly the word

they are not doing anything revolutionary

despite..(though the media is loving saying they are)

its just polished (but time will do that too)

Re: James Cameron's Avatar - The Official Thread

I've got a mate who reckons Avatar is an extremely deep movie due to how corporations in the world are doing exactly like what the colonists do in the movie, and certainly the oil companies like BP the things they did in the 70's in South America were abhorrid, but I still reckon this native-group-versus-corporate-greed served as inspiration rather than as a message. You don't make a $500M political message, and even if it was the Na'vi are just too unbelievable as a culture, and I'm talking about more than just they were CG-created. They lack a sense of personality, individualism and conflict in between each other.
