Wouldn't be a bad movie night would it? Go to the movies to see Iron Man 2, then come home, kick back and watch Avatar.

Re: James Cameron's Avatar - The Official Thread

Also Big W are taking pre-orders for Avatar, so I assume everywhere else is doing the same thing. If you want this movie within the first two weeks it comes out, pre-ordering's the way to go, I remember trying to look for Star Trek on Blu-Ray, absolutely everywhere was sold out. Tonnes of DVD's, very little on Blu-Ray, the only place I found had it for $54. Got it a few days later for under $40. If that's anything to go by, Avatar on Blu-Ray will be very hard to come by if you're just hoping to pick it up off the shelf.

I picked this up on Bluray the other week, and it looks awesome.
The movie itself isn't bad either :smileytongue:

Re: James Cameron's Avatar - The Official Thread

Finally watched this tonight on bluray, having actually owned a disc copy since release day.. lol..

Have to say, the movie seemed more 'real' at the movies... maybe it was because it was on the bigscreen, maybe the 3-D, maybe the glasses... maybe all of the above.... just all seemed a lot softer. Whereas on disc it just came across as being a giant GGI fest like a Lucas prequel.

Re: James Cameron's Avatar - The Official Thread

i got turned off picking this up with next to none supplementals. I was really interested in hearing James Cameron's thoughts on the long gestation period of the project, and hearing about the different directions it would've gone, like Alien 3 did (yes I know he wasnt involved in that 1, i am an alien film master). A barebones film, especially of avatar just seems really unappealing to me. I enjoyed it, but not that much. Just an interesting sci-fi with an interesting world. I didnt walk out annoyed with it unlike some, I think i didnt get caught up on the hype train.

Re: James Cameron's Avatar - The Official Thread

There'll be a master edition eventually, with proper 3D support and a dedicated extras disc (which should've been included for the first release).

Re: James Cameron's Avatar - The Official Thread

About November this should be coming out and there will be a 5 disk edition as well, who knows what you'd need 4 extra disks of info for.

And I agree it did look different at home, less immersive than the cinema 3D, it made it just a movie. I even may have enjoyed it more than the movies because I knew the sections of the film to zone out during.

No I don't have no xbox, wii or other console, so every game is a PS3 exclusive as far as I'm concerned.

5 disks?!? I guess it'll be like 3 though for the bluray. Still, geez
