Re: Lord of the Rings on Blurough

LOTR already looks amazing on DVD through the PS3, can't wait to see it on Blu-ray.

I think they should just wait untill Peter has finished with it and release 1 Blu-Ray box set where you can choose to watch either the theatrical or the Extended version of each film.

Re: Lord of the Rings on Blurough

they wont, it'd be nice, but they won't. I'm not going anywhere near just a theatrical cut bluray, skipped the theatrical on dvd, and im happy to do it again.

Re: Lord of the Rings on Blurough

Eventually they'll probably have a 6-disc Blu-Ray set for uncut Hobbit films part 1 & 2 and the LOTR trilogy, plus another disc, maybe two of bonus features... actually you'd be looking at maybe a 7- or 8-disc set.

There's a tonne of special features though, didn't each of the LOTR films have a 5-disc set just for one film? So you could even have a 20-25 disc set although it beats me why you'd want to.

Re: Lord of the Rings on Blurough

That's the extended box set I have, special features are awesome with all the docos and featurettes, plus the 3 commentary tracks for each film. I watched the whole lot, well over 40 hours...

Re: Lord of the Rings on Blurough

there was another release wasnt there on dvd? which had both versions and different features? apparently the features were more honest, showing the drama of getting the films made and the not so painless journey.

Re: Lord of the Rings on Blurough

Yes... I bought them for the mrs before we were technically together... they were dual sided discs and had one version (theatrical) on one side, and the other version (extended) on the other side.. You didn't get the DTS soundtrack on the extended cuts in this version though... I guess that was to get them onto one disc, rather than the two that the original extended box sets used.

Now we have all three versions between us..
