Re: Star Wars Saga Blu-ray Announced

i love the starwars movies, but why 9 discs? surely all those films could fit easily onto one disc & still have 30gig spare! seems like an extravagant waste of space.....& obviously increases the price for the consumer! & they're the special editions....give me original IV,V,VI *****

It'll never happen... because Lucas has back peddled over the ballsup that was the prequel trilogy, and has tried to smooth it over by saying that the 2nd and 3rd major changes to the OT, as release after 20 years and then altered again on DVD (in an effort to fix PT inconsistencies), are 'what his original vision' actually was.

Yeah right George... so altered dialogue between Vader and the Emperor in the ESB that reflects that we the audience already know the Skywalker lineage (so as to not confuse the kiddies who grew up with Revenge of the Sith being their first taste of Star Wars I guess), Hayden Christiansen as a ghost, and every other change you've ever made, were all part of your original 1973 vision?

This from a man who has stated on screen that the OT fights were lackluster because they had old men, cybernetic men, and young students.. then had old men and 850 year old aliens doing leaps and flips in the PT...

ummm... *takes deep breath....

1 disc for each film and then the other 3 are all special features.

The dialogue changes between Vader and The Emperor in TESB, I'm willing to accept as a necessary change considering they had to fill a plot hole created through the PT, but replacing Sebastian Shaw as old Anakin was a terrible move.

It just doesn't make any sense; he was old when he died, he should be old as a Force ghost. Obi-Wan and Yoda didn't get to wind back the years, why the hell should Anakin?

Another change I'd be willing to accept would be the replacement of puppet Yoda with CGI Yoda in Episode 1, simply for the sake of continuity. It just feels too disjointed when you go from the crap puppet they used in Ep 1 to the CGI version in Eps 2&3.

Hey, don't knock what was easily one of the better aspects of the prequel trilogy...

Yoda displaying exactly why he was a Jedi master was necessary. My personal opinion that I'm willing to pass off as FACT! :smileyvery-happy:

It doesn't make sense agreed. How would Luke even recognise him in Christensen's form? It wasn't him that he saw when he takes Vader's helm off in RotJ... Maybe Lucas will go and change that too.

He will probably poo on Sir Alec Guiness by digitally superimposing Ewan McGregor into every scene with Obi-Wan... :smileysad:

Re: Star Wars Saga Blu-ray Announced

Alas, this is what makes Lucas' fall from grace come full circle. It isn't the fact that the prequels were made, it's that he insists that he mustn't allow anyone to forget them. He's either the smartest man alive or the most ignorant, maybe both. He knows that if all six films, or to be more precise the two trilogies weren't melded and hardwired together fans would jettison the PT and pretend it didn't exist. Therefore it's his obligation to milk as much as he can out of the franchise by keeping them both together, at the expense of the purity of the original.

I think even Lucasarts is starting to abandon the PT. The Force Unleashed saga was set after the events of episode III, and features very heavy imagery of the OT (including tattooine DLC). The upcoming Old Republic MMORPG, while borrowing more licence from the PT, at least has a much more coherent storyline than anything out of the new films. If you have time to spare, go to gametrailers and watch the timeline trailers, it's the most interesting backstory set to concept art you'll ever see.

The Clone Wars says otherwise.

Having said that, it's actually a very good TV series. The "movie" they released to launch it was poor though, but that's what happens when you meld what was originally supposed to be the first three episodes of the 1st season together and play it in cinemas.
