Set in a future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister's place for the latest match.

Opening weekend numbers and how it stands up:

1. Harry Potter & Deathly Hallows Part 2 - 169 million
2. The Dark Knight - 158 million
3. THE HUNGER GAMES  -  155 million (Biggest non sequel weekend ever)
4. Spiderman 3 - 151 million 


So I went to see this on Friday and it really didn't disappoint. The only minor distraction for the movie was the use of shakey cam at times it wasn't needed. The character casting was great, Woody, Jennifer, Donald & even Lenny Kravitz did awesome jobs and really put you into the movie.  It was very solid the whole way through & I find myself really looking forward to seeing the second one on November 22nd 2013.

Don't know anything about it at all, but i've heard it's pretty good. Weill probably check it out.

I went in knowing very little, and was surprised at it's originality - very little derivation from anything I've personally seen before at least.

The theme is not new, if you like movies featuring shameless bloodsports, then you should check out:

Battle Royal is a great film. That's how I got The Hunger Games craze explained to me "it's basically Battle Royale" haha.
