...and it is David O Russell.
About the only thing of his I've actually seen is Three Kings, which I rated pretty highly. It'll be interesting to see how he goes with this... the entire thing will probably stand or fall on how good an actor they can get to play Nathan Drake. I wouldn't fancy Nolan North's chance of keeping the job unless they go really low budget, which is unlikely. If they give it a decent budget they'll be looking for a big name actor.
I assume Smelcky you would be gunning for Sir Michael Caine to play Sully? As long as you can swallow the notion of Sully being a British gentleman of course.
Heavy Rain? ;)
:P

lol.....would make for some interesting dialogue..
Sir MC (as we should all in reverance refer to him as) is a tad too old for action movie shenanigans now (he's 77)....but 15-20 years ago he would have been an interesting twist for the role :)

I would rather Digital Playground did an Uncharted film rather than what this is shaping up into. It'd probably be closer to the source....
Nathan Drake's ultimate quest to find a pair of knockers that aren't quite ancient, but are at least 18 years old.
We shall use this picture to determine what kind of action hero we shall get in Uncharted:
EXCLUSIVE: Neil Burger Talks 'Uncharted: The Movie!'
The director of Uncharted isn't using David O. Russell's screenplay, and isn't even thinking about casting Nathan Fillion yet.
Now that Limitless director Neil Burger has taken over Uncharted, the adaptation of Sony's popular treasure hunting videogame franchise, we all have questions to ask. Is he going to be keeping any of previous director David O. Russell's work? Will he listen to the internet fervor to cast Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake? And what makes Uncharted different from Indiana Jones or National Treasure? In our interview with the director for this week's DVD/Blu-Ray release of Limitless (look for it tomorrow), he had this to say:
CRAVE Online: Are you going to be keeping a lot of David O. Russell’s work…?
Neil Burger: No, I haven’t seen his screenplay on it. Mainly we’re beginning from scratch and going back to the videogame. Because there’s a lot of cool stuff, actually, from the videogame, if you know it…
CRAVE Online: Yeah, I’ve played them all.
Neil Burger: It’s really one of the most cinematic videogames, and one that has really developed characters. So, you know, there’s a lot of cool, really intense things that, if they work for the film’s story, I want to use them.
CRAVE Online: What differentiates Uncharted from similar film franchises like Indiana Jones or National Treasure?
Neil Burger: Well, I think Indiana Jones is, you know, fantastic. The grandfather of all those movies. But I think Indiana Jones is nostalgic. It takes place in the 1930s, and the later ones are a little bit later, and it kind of plays on that nostalgia. Whereas Uncharted is very much up to the minute, of the moment. It’s very “now” and contemporary and it has this sort of rough and very intense feel that a movie like The Bourne Identity has. It’s really up to date in its own way. The Bourne Identity isn’t your father’s Cold War movie and this is a very different kind of treasure hunt movie. It’s very real and it has kind of an insane, wild feeling that comes out of the character; Nate being this con man and a bit of a hustler, living by his wits, ballsy and capable of anything.
CRAVE Online: Are you aware of the internet campaign to get Nathan Fillion to star in the movie?
Neil Burger: I’ve seen a little bit of that, yes. That was brought to my attention. So, you know, I think he’s a good actor. I think there’s a lot of really good actors who don’t even look like [Nathan Drake] who could play it! Where we are right now is that we’re literally starting from scratch on the screenplay, and I think that once we finish it, then we’ll go to actors and see who’s available and who’s right for the parts. Whenever that happens.
thanks to Crave Online
It's been said many times before, but since it's going to be a big action blockbuster they will end up getting an A-list movie actor. Uncharted fans don't need a good actor to sell it - you'd have to forcefully abstain to miss it. Still, was Shia LaBeuof a household name before Transformers? Or the unknown-at-the-time combo of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in Twilight? Fillion could hold his own.
Hope they do use Fallion, In all three games, I assumed he was used as a template for Drake. If it was played by someone else, I think I would feel cheated :(
I also think Claudia Black could do her character justice, she was great in Farscape, and very hawt :womantongue:
''poo sticks'' to A list celebs and theyre massive wage slips. I dont believe they pull in the punters at the box office anymore!!
Small budget films are increasingly making there mark in the industry, plenty of examples.
If they play it smart, they could save the cash from paying a big name, and spend it on FX and more worthwhile production costs.
Yeah fallon is a pretty obvious choice
But i would still like to see nolan north to be involved in the movie somehow, maybe as that character who appears in each movie as a cameo, who knows but he definitley deserves something

Seconded.
Ever see the episode of American Dad where Francine was trying to get revenge on Clooney? They had his smugness and his "acting" described to a T.

LMAO yes yes ..I also loved the South Park "Smug" episode .
@ Gunslinger like I said I have only enjoyed watching Clooney in Oceans 11,
Dusk till Dawn was an awesome movie but I hated Clooney in it.
(Tarantino was the bomb) ..Like I said I have hated him in every role
except for Oceans.
In Batman and Robin sure they were all bad but imo Clooney was by far the worst.
Closely followed by Alicia Silverstone. Arnie was the best thing about the whole
film and only because he made me lol with his words :D.
John Edwards = Biggest Douche.
George Clooney = Smug Douche.
