So........
Has anyone seen it yet? Just wondering what peoples thoughts on it are.
I am going to see it sunday, but was hoping to get others opinions first.
Now I'm going to go off topic in my own thread and say, that I usually just go to a local suburban cinima. But with all the talk of Krispy Kremes donuts in the Sig request thread I've decided to go into the city (Brisbane) so I can get some donuts while I'm there.
Will Krispy Kremes and The watchmen make a good combination?????? On sunday night I should be able to say.

I saw it today, it was an ok movie but not brilliant.
It was a bit long too, The seesion started at 11:20 and we got out at 2:15 but thats with adds at the start.
The plot seemed to take ages to get going, it felt like 2 hours of the movie was lead up to the actual plot.
The movie is slightly confusing and it jumps around dates a lot.
The ship they fly around in looks like ET, and there are some pretty cliche lines such as "no means no".
All in all a average movie, but I saw "The International" last week, and this movie was better than that, but that was another long weird confusing movie.........
Bring on HPHBP lol. ![]()

Look, 1 krispy kreme donut and another krispy kreme donut is already a good combination. I noticed you said donuts, so I assume you're going to get a few.
If The Watchmen isn't a good movie, the Krispy Kremes will brighten it up.
So, yes they will make a good combo.

Depends how prone you are to throwing up
I keep hearing people say that they kept the gore consistent with the graphic novel... although I don't really remember the novel being that gory... there are a couple of moments during the prison scene, and around the rest of the novel but while the novel was violent to memost of the blood was overdone. There are other things though, like one scene involving a pan of boiling hot cooking fat...
I'll see the movie, but I'm not expecting it to be as good as the graphic novel. The graphic novel is a masterpiece that you should get around to reading at some point in your life because it has a more down to earth view on who superheroes would be. Comics like Batman and Iron Man, while iconic and both have great movies based on them are heavily fictionalised, like Morgan Freeman said in the Dark Knight would a multi-billionaire really spend his nights running around in a suit beating up on muggers in alleyways? This where this huge psychological factor comes into Watchmen, because in real life if you were to get costumed heroes or masked vigilantes, they would be the unstable people of society. People like Rorscharch and the Comedian represent the insane, while people like Dreiberg and Sally Jupiter represent those lost in their lives who use vigilanteism to cover up their insecurities. Since Watchmen is basically a panel-to-film adaptation, I guess it means by default it is the deepest and possibly one of the best Superhero movies out there. But this is if you're already familiar with the novel, if you haven't read the novel then Watchmen is going to seem fairly complex on paper.

Oh man saw the movie this afternoon and it was totally awful! None of the characters were properly introduced or developed in any detail, the acting was poor, the story was wafer thin, weak and dragged on waaay too long! Basically I found myself sitting in the theatre for the first hour wating for the movie to "begin" but nope we seemed to be trapped in some sort of perpetual introductory sequence. I suppose I should have suspected something was rotten right from the first scene where you see a close up zoom in type sequence of the smiley button at least four times over.
The director obviously had no idea what direction to go for so instead left the movie in the starting blocks for the whole ball busting 3 hours... I know I sound really negative but I thought the movie would actually be kinda cool. I'm haven't read the comics but by all accounts they're excellent and the trailer hooked me in but definitely DON'T RECOMMEND.

I really liked it, they've stayed really faithful to the graphic novel despite a few cuts (obviously to cut down the film's running time) and a different ending (which is actually pretty good and let's face it, I think people would stop taking it seriously if there was a giant Cthulu monster
). rcoll's second paragraph in his previous post basically summed up the graphic novel and the film perfectly.
Sitting there watching it though, I couldn't help but feel that some people just wouldn't get it and I think I can pin the main reason for it:

If you look at the trailer, it's very much put together as your standard superhero film trailer, lots of action with small bits of dialogue that give the viewer some small insight into the plot. This doesn't work in the film's favour; unfortunately (depending on how you look at it), Watchmen isn't your standard superhero flick. It's not about the action, it's very much about the heroes, who they are, why they do what they do and how they've affected the world at large.
Overall, in my opinon, if you liked the graphic novel, you'll love the film (although, having said that I've got my fingers crossed for an epic Director's Cut on DVD and/or Blu-Ray) and if you haven't, well you may be in for a surprise either way. ![]()

My thoughts exactly.
