Recently found this which I thought may interest some of you.
"This one really builds to a final crescendo," Bay told USA Today. "It's not three multiple endings... As a trilogy, it really ends. The franchise could be rebooted again, but I think it has a really killer ending."
The director also revealed who the villain is. Ready? It's Shockwave, the one-eyed overseer of Cybertron whose toy turned into a wicked purple laser canon thing.
As for the plot? "The new film features Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) taking his first tenuous steps into adulthood while remaining a reluctant human ally of Optimus Prime." (It's better than saving the world with a gym sock full of Matrix glitter while racist robots look on...)
Through this story, a mystery of sorts emerges, as TF3 centers around the "space race between Russia and the U.S.", while implying that the Transformers played a hidden role in mankind's first exploration of the galaxy. Does that mean that we might get to see Astrotrain in live-action form?
And fanboys, try not to faint - but yes, despite initial reluctance on Bay's part, Transformers 3D is happening.
Optimus Prime and his fellow Autobots will roll out in 3D July 1, 2011.

I'm glad they ditched Megan Fox. Aside from all the behind-the-scenes antics, she's probably the most overrated actress of the last two or so years and her character never really appeared to sympathise with Sam's plight. Sure she knew the autobots existed and she was fine with that, but she seemed more concerned with her own matters and agendas than Sam's. I know Transformers isn't a great love philosophical piece, but what Rosie Huntington-Smith (I think?) will probably bring is a sympathising, empathising presence. I said it in the other thread, but where as Fox is a black-haired "I'm hot and I know it and did you that I'm hot?" dits, Rosie's more of a strawberry blonde sidekick who wants to know Sam deeper than just a wild passionat kinky sex way.
No matter what the third film does I dunno if I could call these films great, they're a guilty pleasure I guess but there have been and will be better trilogies. I'm glad they're wrapping it up at this point because it's not really the kind of thing I feel has longevity for 5 or 6 films.

I was going to create a thread about this earlier, but decided to wait until they were further along in shooting. Kudos to Pretoria for jumping on top of it though. ![]()
My fanboy gauge went into the red when I read about Shockwave being the main villain, it just sounds awesome. It'll be even more awesome if they keep the two key factors of the character:
1. He's Megatron's field commander that was left behind on Cybertron to lead the Decepticon forces there.
2. Corey Burton is Shockwave's voice actor (if I'm not mistaken, he's done it for EVERY iteration of the character). Never heard it before? Be sure to check THIS out).

No Megan Fox, so this movie is already dead to me.
The opportunity to look at her was the only redeeming feature of the crapfest that was Transformers 2.
