I have recently had time to catch up with a few tv shows. One being Smallville, I really should of started it way back when it started but at that time I had about 7 shows on the go, so I sacrificed Smallville amongst others... I have now watched S1 - 4 in the last 3 weeks & am hooked on it.
I am also watching & really enjoying the TV show Castle, no link with the movie before you ask :-D
At the moment I have to say the best tv series I've ever come across in my life is Dexter. Watched all three seasons and can't wait till the fourth comes out. It just deals with so many grey areas in life and hooks you in.
The other series I'm a big fan of is LOST. I love shows like these that have real depth and mystery. I know it's received a lot of crap and the ratings have dropped because many people have short attention spans, but I keep getting drawn back for more. I think it has really come a long way and makes a lot of sense if you bother to actually keep watching it. It *****s me off that people complain it has been going on for too long. That's bullcrap. A lot of series go on for 10+ seasons. They are only making six seasons of Lost and it has a hell of a lot more story line and depth than most.
And as far as comedies go, nothing beats South Park
