Problem With Original Disc Versions?

I just went on Burnout Paradise and I got the "Welcome to Paradise City" opening...

Basically I've had to start all over again.

My save data was completely fine and I'm thinking it has something to do with Burnout Paradise being available through PS+.

I did backup my save but no idea if it was too late or not.

No I didn't download Burnout Paradise free off the Store, but I did download the PS+ Subscription.

Has this happened to anyone else?
Pretty annoyed if I've lost all that data, I literally completed Burnout completely.

Like for example I had done every challenge there was... All smashes, billboards, jumps etc...

Re: Problem With Original Disc Versions?

that's strange. my disc version works fine, I have all my progress, but the downloaded version has no progress at all. I'd like to ditch the disk a stay with the PSN version, but not without losing progress... is there any way to move to progress from one version to the other?

Re: Problem With Original Disc Versions?

Ahh, interesting you should say that as I'm having exactly the same issue today with my disc version.

It was fine yesterday, both offline and online, but today, halfway through loading, the game asks me 'Do I want to return to game screen'. Well, yes please, so it does.

However, after choosing what to do, it gives me the starting speech, and then goes on to offer me a Novice Licence.

I have my original save on a USB stick, so thinking it had been corrupted in some way I recopy it, but same thing happens.

Leaves me thinking it's an issue at the BP server end, as there has been no game update since yesterday (when it worked fine).

Re: Problem With Original Disc Versions?

OK. I've had a look round and found a potential fix to this problem.

If your PSN profile is using a non-standard avatar picture (ie: one that you've bought from PS Store) then it is most likely this that's causing the BP issue.
Change your PSN profile avatar to one of those bundled with the PS3 and you should be able to load BP with your old progress intact. It certainly worked for me just now.

Hopefully a small issue that Critereon/Sony can fix ASAP.

Re: Problem With Original Disc Versions?

I've had my avatar as the same one ever since I first got my PS3. (Which is one already available to choose from.)
It's the face one like ^_^ haha.
Maybe I could try changing it to something else quickly though, I may give it a go sometime.

Re: Problem With Original Disc Versions?

this also happened to me, i checked my progress on the online stats page that pops up and had all my data so thought must be a glitch and let it continue and it saved over my old game save with 90% complete :smileysurprised:

Re: Problem With Original Disc Versions?

Just went on mine and had this problem, it was like I had just put the disc in for the first time, but I have (correction- had) platinum cars, all events complete, all cars except paid cars and Diamond P12, which I was doing challenges to get, over 300 done, nearly 200 hours of gameplay in total. Absolutely gutted. I just hope someone finds a fix or something. Also had 3 beeps when I quit the game last, and have a premium Uncharted avatar as that seems to potentially have something to do with it. I downloaded the free PS plus version to play without having to use the disc but save wasn't compatible so I deleted it once my 30 days ran out.

Re: Problem With Original Disc Versions?

I just want to say that your solution is a load of *****.

Let me explain:

I have always had the avatar that you see alongside this message. The image of Clank on Ratchet's Back. I have had it since 2007and have never changed it.

Re: Problem With Original Disc Versions?

So, I own the Disc version and I wanted to buy some of the DLC in the sale. The game worked fine, my save file was fine and my DLC was fine. I'm even using a custom avatar. Perhaps there was a problem with the PS+ authentication which only manifested itself soon after the entitlement ended but as of last night, it's working fine.

I wish they would fix this. :Frown:
