One of things I noticed about the Criterion forums is that Criterion didn't take an active enough part in it. Ppl complained and asked them questions which they didn't respond to, so the threads started getting out of hand with ppl getting annoyed at Criterion and when that happened they would close the threads and even delete them and most of the time they still wouldn't respond so even more threads were made that did start getting over abusive and down right sarcastic and I can see the posters points, if u talk to some1 in RL and they ignore u u start getting annoyed - well its the same on a forum.
One of the big complaints (after the Rai-Jin incindent) was about the fog, ppl just didn not like it and they started asking why it didn't have an off switch like the day/night cycle did to which they didn't get a response and loads of threads were created on it. Now when I play it I notice that the fog has been toned down a lot from what it was but it was done months after the forum was closed down.
Another of the complaints was the trophy patch, the biggest complaint about it was not that it wasn't retroactive but that they lied to us about right upto the release and only admitted they couldn't make it retroactive after ppl found out it wasn't. The thing is they had a forum to communicate with the players they could have admitted long before the trophy patch was released that they couldn't make it retroactive and they must have known well over a month before release that it wasn't gonna b.
So really it was the lack of communication from Criterion that really killed their forums.

@ Chrome_PuPXD by your logic it must have taken a lot of haters for Criterion to shut down their forum. also they don't care because where are the featured names of people who had the rai-jin first. I know one of them definitely ain't you. LOOOL OMG are you saying Criterion made a forum for haters in the first place? stop trying...I know one of them also definately wasn't you but definately was me.
Not sure what that has to do with anything, though.
Anyway, I know I said I wouldn't post here again, but seeing how the topic of discussion has turned to Criterion's forum and I don't have much else to do at the minute, I have something to say:
I wasn't around for when Criterion's forums closed down (I gave up on them about a month before) and the reason I left because it became a terrible place to be. I saw some of the threads and comments, and it seemed to just be complaints and angry posts and flaming. Back in the old days (not sure if you were around then D-M? Pre-Cagney?), there were still people complaining, but they did it in a polite-ish way. The guys at Criterion were VERY involved with us all, and they listened to everything we had to say. It was a nice community.
Then, as I'm sure you know, Cagney came along and with it a PM from Simes saying that to thank some of us on the forum who were helpful and made good posts, they were giving us an exclusive car - the Rai-Jin. Problem is, they made the huge mistake of hyping up this car beforehand, putting it on the front page when the game loads up. When people realised that only a few of us could drive it, that's when everything went wrong. People got angry and started hating Criterion. And it all went downhill from there. Criterion seemed to lose contact with everyone, and the updates made the game easier. After the bikes and trophies so many people were complaining that I left.
Now, I know you say Criterion didn't want to hear critism, but it got too out of hand. The thing to remember it was THEIR forum, and they have every right to take them down if they just become full of complainers and haters. The whole point of the forums after all was they could get useful feedback from their community, and that quite clearly wasn't happenning. A couple of motnhs ago the forums accidentally came back for a few days, and whilst they were there I saw Alex Ward's lats post, which said quite clearly that everything had to stop now or the forums would be gone for good. Obviously it can't have done.
I have no idea what I'm even trying to say now, and I've forgotten the point I'm trying to make. But you seem to be saying that Criterion don't care about the players because they closed their forums down (or something like that). I, however, think it was BECAUSE they cared about the players that they closed them down. The forums turned into a place of hate so they got rid of them. Now they're using the Network page and Twitter to communicate with people (I know it's not the same, but at least any hate isn't visible for everyone to see and it's easier to manage).
Thanks for giving me more things to correct. I know, what a complete waste of time helping them fix bugs/glitches only for the favour to not be returned.
They should have made the game at least 85% bug-free. In the PS2 days you couldn't release a game and expect your fans to fix it. Why should I knock space off my HDD for patches. It should already be on disc.
What a liar to who ever said Criterion always listened. Did I miss something. Criterion hasn't listened to us for over a year. WOW. Plus you just stated a fact. Criterion always had haters. O.k. don't get it twisted I'm not saying you can't please everyone but when you have a problem like that and you ( Criterion ) don't want to help that's really sad.
The only thing that I have ever complained about this game is the island's price. If the island was £4.99 and still had the same content that it has today; I simply wouldn't have mind. You get what you pay for. Actually personally it would have knocked Flower off my list as best PSN game.
Also another lie what happened to us winning cars from special days/events on the calendar.
With this thread so popular. I honestly thought people would have a say on thier assumptions of the island. Probably the majority of people left last year and there's just trophy whores left who could care less.
You don't know what you're speaking about. Are you really going to lie again and turn around and say that overpricing isn't and issue. BECAUSE the island is £9.99 it is rubbish. £4.99 it is fantastic. See what I done there. I just made things easier...

You never ever get what u pay for ... you get what u are sold.
The problem with the price is the punters, if the average punter is stupid enough to pay the price then they will keep on asking it tbh

the stupid people are the ones that cant understand that different people have different opinions, therefore can see different value if different things.
i obviously see more value in it than you, as i would have happily payed double.
you and dark mercury obviously feel ripped off
it dosnt mean either of us are wrong so why try to argue a point that has no right answer, just different opinions?

if you are going to spend an hour intensively plowing through this game to get all the challenges and cars then you will not get much from the initial challenge, all your left with then is an island to freeburn around
if you play on it every now and again take time to explore and break it up with some freeburning online then it will last longer, i took this approach with the origional release and it worked well. Burnout Pardise is more of a game for casual gamers if you ask me.
i finished all the races, smashes and boards on saturday, indeed i was surprised at how quick i did it but then again i sat down with the mentality of "ah sod it ill just get it done so i can explore and have fun online
and im still having fun offline practicing stunts and having a laugh online with other players in fact im still finding shortcuts and little jokes.
your going to get in what you put in, if you decide to hammer it in one go you wont get much. im not whether it was worth it or not.
if you dont like it then fine upload it back and get a refund
Don't try and act Silly the fact that every single PDLC released before the island was considered dear but now magically the island is considered a bargain shows Criterion ripped us off blatantly. Have fun buying into their next game.
explain how i am acting silly? please quantify this.....
and yes if there next game is good i will buy it as i wont give a ***** what you think
ill defend to the death your right to say it though....
no.1 quantify is not a word.

Well for me there is nothing to do on the Island, ok so u might b able to do marked man and pratt about on the islands with your friends but quite honestly I don't find that fun and its one of the reasons I stopped attending the so called 'Burnout Fun Nights' because they weren't fun to me. When I play online I want to do challenges and all the Islands got is 10 mins worth, it is a joke.
I would have happily paid double for Island just like you if it had more content and a decent amount of challenges, but instead it had a laughable amount of things to do before u end up with a 100% licence and yet again the trophies were a bloody joke.
All the Island is is a cramped little playing field with so much wasted potential.
BTW, check my Burnout stats if u want proof that I am a real Burnout fan, I'm not complaining cos I hate the game ... I just hate what Criterion are turning it into ... A JOKE!!!!

What a cow! Do not try and lecture me. Do you even know what the word moot is? Your grammar is lacking.
