Battlefield 3: Call of Duty DLC (close quarters)

I play and enjoy both Call of Duty and Battlefield, and was wondering if any of you COD guys have picked up the Call of Duty expansion for Battlefield 3?

I like the idea of it, but I don't imagine it working on Battlefield..the controls are too twitchy and clunky at the same time (God knows how DICE manage that), the frame rate doesn't allow for high speed accuracy at close quarters, and all the videos I've seen on YouTube of gameplay show people constantly running into walls, doorways, and getting stuck on scenery.

Having said all that, I am thinking of picking up the Close Quarters DLC, as it seems like a geniune change of pace for Battlefield.

If any of you CoD players have played it, I would be interested to hear your opinions on it.

Re: Battlefield 3: Call of Duty DLC (close quarters)

I have played it and think it works really really well and I am a COD player at heart.  The maps are small and I think really really well done and lots better than any of the maps on MW3, which I think are hugely unimagantive with just a few abondoned cars randomly stuck in places.

In close quarters, there is lots of nooks and crannies, different ways to get around the maps, whilst they are small on my first few plays of them I got couldnt find my way to flags, got lost couldnt remember the way I had come from, I am a terrible navigator.

I did find myself running into walls occasionally but that isnt unusual for me and will quite often happen in COD. :Stupid:

Pick it up, in fact get premium, if you do play BF3, its worth the money I reckon

Hmm..I'm still on the fence about Premium, not enough info on it yet, terrible marketing by EA methinks!

Isnt that what Elite is though?

I bought premium for BF and love the CQ maps. Combined with the release of smaller weapons etc it adds a nice change to the BF gameplay being quicker and faster and not so tactical as the normal maps or the Back to karkand ones.

The map design is brilliant and COD could learn a thing or two from these designs and coupled with the destruction physics in a longer game they are literally blown to pieces which in turn changes the map design every game. Four new maps with CQ then Four new huges maps next with Armoured kill to focus on vehicle combat not to mention a further 2 extra DLC packages bringing together 16 maps all with different styles of gameplay, new assignments, guns and unlocks.

For 40 notes adds to an already brilliant game and just keeps giving

It's clearer what you're gonna get with Elite, MP maps and Special Ops maps.

I have no idea what 'Armoured Kill' and 'Endgame' are, and I'm not gonna risk £10 for each of them when I may never play them!

Also, I have Back to Karkand already as I have the 'Limited edition' version of BF3, so I'm not getting 5 DLC drops as they advertise..a discount for those of us that already have BTK would be the sensible thing to do to encourage sales.

Edit: I see you mentioned what Armoured Kill is, although I can't find many details on it on the internets.
I'm not a fan of the vehicles so I'd give that one a miss.

I think what the are trying to create here is an ultimate package is that makes sense. Where with COD they are basically just turning out the same old MP/ Spec Op's / zombie whatever maps with the same gameplay just with hastily designed maps Dice are tailoring each "package" to a different style of gameplay so so far we have the classic maps in original and karkand, quicker small maps in CQ and big vehicle maps on Armoured Kill. as well as these each pack contains new guns, camo amongst other things. I personally think that for what you get for the money just shows Elite up for what it is

Some more info on next pack here

don't bother, it doesn't work. If you want quick close quarters FPS, play COD. If you want a terrible made game with huge problems with lag/gun mechanics etc, then play BF3 CQ.

You mean if you want a laggy p2p ping obsessed FPS go COD. If you want dedicated servers with no lag whatsoever and map designed to have no spawn issues and certainly no camping as practically impossible go for BF

Oh Leggy, what's happened to you?!

I used to play BFBC2 with dedicated servers on PS3 and STILL got lag!

I reckon the majority of the time the online issues are due to the shoddy PSN rather than the game servers, dedicated or not!

Oh look, here comes some more 'maintenance' :smileywink:

Dont get me wrong still find the odd go on COD a laugh but for the me host ended game / host migrating did my head in not to mention the perks system which i just found getting more ridiculous as each one came along but COD4 will always bring back memories of the heady days of 2008. The days when three perks where all the rage. Well I say three but as Stopping Power was a must unless you were Chal you were limited to two. The days of Shipment HQ, the days of being so excited about a three map pack ringing into sick to work then discovering only two of them were any good. The days of "Reset your Router" and endless debates about whether or not you should be allowed to get killed and then drop a live grenade. The days of everyone using MP5 Silenced or AK47, the days of equiping steady aim and firing a M40A3 from the hip across the whole map and getting a headshot. The days of running around with a Barrett 50 cal and using it as a machine gun, when the ultimate accolade was achieving a gun Saddam Hussein would have mugged you for. Anyway I disgress

BF3 has just give me something new like COD4 did back then. I can honestly say I maybe have had lag in about 2 games out of thousands. It has its issues like the rent a server thing which the Hitler admins but it generally works. Yeah the guns are clanky but hey I'm quite sure running with a automatic rifle is too
