That right there is the whole reason the game has been launched so poorly, PS3 is more complicated because it's more powerful *puts fanboy hat on*, they developed the game on the easier platform then made a hash of the port.

Brilliant news! All they gotta do now is fix the graphics & the framerate. Oh, and multiple profile logins. Then, we might actually be on par with the 360 version. This is a start though.

No excuse. The games are the same, everyone paid the same amount yet we get the lesser version. That's just plain bad.

I mean, COD4, W@W and MW2 all were pretty much the same on both consoles but Black Ops just sucks on the PS3 compared to the 360.

No we still got a crappier verison with host migration failing and we got the patch latest.

Im not usually one to get into the xbox vs ps3 arguments, but this really annoys me. Why should only one get a feature which is core? Fair enough for the timed exclusive DLC, but this should be brought to both consoles.

IDC about this near useless feature but I'm very pee'd of for the fact that the 360 obviously has the better version of Black Ops yet we PS3 owners don't even get small features like this...

So next time you want good things, take a wad of cash out and wipe whoever's butt you want to please. This seems to work for Microsoft. Even though the money is only for early maps but whatever.

It's interesting that Vahn/Treyarch are looking into the uPnP performance of the BOPS software - CoD forums/twitter etc - as the issues seem to stem around the NAT processing/recognition, hence everyone fiddling around with DMZ's and port forwarding etc and being so focussed on whether your NAT is open/moderate/strict etc.

I took my PS3 out of the DMZ last night, kept the static IP address, switched off "load multiplayer by default" and made sure that uPnP was switched on within the PS3 config and the router's config. I believe that when the PS3 is in the DMZ the uPnP feature is bypassed. However, once put back under DHCP control by the router, even with a static IP, the system returned an Open NAT status, uPnP "available" and better upload bandwidth (could have been coincidence though...).

I played around 10 games of domination with zero hard freezes (although didn't get host at any time so not 100% sure that is "fixed") and one host-migration that succeeded without being kicked from the lobby/game.

Will see how it goes later on. No changes seen to the current software version (top right of multiplayer home screen - 52.25.38.5)

Anyone else feel that the problem exists around the games' ability to manage uPnP/ports properly etc? I reckon the BOPS networking configuration is looking for additional ports to the standard list of TCP and UDP ports that we already know should be open. I think this issue is specific to the host of the game and the host's ability to properly communicate to the connected peers during the game. It may be that Treyarch will require everyone running the game to make sure that they have uPnP enabled and working properly, and I wouldn't be surprised if they announce that the PS3 should NOT be placed in a router's DMZ......

Just guessing still really, too many variables and too many coincidences happening at the moment to be 100% sure.......

@ All of the posts before 1.04, it makes complete sense that it could be harder to implement on PS3 rather that XBOX, due to the software on the PS3 compared to XBOX, both open the PC equivalent of an exe file, on the XBOX I believe it is possible to load the MP exe file direct if desired, on PS3 it is not, so they have to load the Single player (SP) exe, that then reads the patch file and then get it to load the MP file, this can take more time to programme.

 

(I know the PS3 cant run exe files, I'm using that as an example)
