Hi all,

I have never played a CoD game before, mainly because even though I like FPS games, im not overly good at them, and i like my games to have an engaging story (Resistance for example, for me, was a good storyline).

Now, just been to see Dark Knight Rises, and in the trailers it had an advert for Black Ops 2, which says the story is written by one of the writers of the Dark Knight Rises. This has since intrigued my interest into the series, and i am now contemplating BO2...but wandering which CoD games i would need to play to get up to speed with the current story.

I assume Black Ops 1 would be a good place to start, but any other titles that anyone knows of that will link into BO2?

Black Ops story has nothing to do with rest of the CoD games (CoD4, MW2/3)

Thanks. I realise its kinda question that no1 can give a definitive answer as its not even out yet, but just wanted to know some of the back story to the game prior to potentially getting it.

Please don't play CoD games for the story..they're fun, but they have lost 'the plot'

Especially in Black Ops.

That story tried to get so clever it climbed inside its own *BOTTOM HOLE only to be lost forever.

It's the only CoD game I've played where I skipped the cut scenes and hoped EVERYBODY died.

Ah, thanks Disco... i know the CoD storylines arent amazing, the people i know that play CoD only play for the online, but with the writer of Dark Knight Rises writing it for BlackOps2, its not going to be a day one purchase, but something i have on my radar, so was just curious to which games in the CoD series i would potentially need to play to get the gist of the story

The MW series follows a story of sorts but COD is just complete b*ll*cks story wise and the campaigns are just short add ons to the games as an afterthought

If you really want to know the story just read up on Wikiipedia instead and save yourself some money

COD4 was good, especially the online, but since then it's gone downhill.

Tried playing MW3 tonight and had to quit after 2-3 games. The whole series has just taken a complete nosedive into the pit of horse manure now.

I know for a fact that I won't be getting Blops2, and I've owned at some point every COD game, including 1 and 2 on the PC.

A good indication that Blops2 won't do anything? How many posts are there on here about it?

I was thinking this the other day. I remember when WAW was due out and MW2 and the excitement on these forums. Since BLOPS, MW3 and now BLOPS 2 nothing at all. Sure it will sell bucketloads but weird how people especially on here couldnt care less but just seem to buy as a norm. Try something different. I bought BF this year and absolutely love it. the change from year on year COD rehashes and something fresh brought me back to the COD4 days when literally would be on everynight....MOH Warfighter is also shaping up nicely this year
