There was a little in the tunnels but nothing that had me on the edge of my seat not wanting 2 turn the next corner 4 the fear of a booby trap or a VC waiting to impale me.
Also wen u think of that era and Nam u immediately conjure up images of a Huey speeding over paddy fields, with a GI leaning out of an open door blasting away with an MG, all to the sounds of the classic music from that era. Where was a level like that?!?! Where was all the music from the era that is synonymous with Nam?!?!
Or GI's pinned down and surrounded, calling in napalm strikes left, right and centre from fast air. Think any of the scenes from Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Hamburger Hill, We Were Soldiers all theatrical and atmospheric, modern games shud b like that, it's what the modern gamer expects and this wasn't.
I thought the new MOH was a bit disappointing and was looking forward to COD. But I think COD was even more disappointing. For me the best FPS recently has been BF BC2 and I can wait 4 the new Nam version of that. Hopefully it will b all that COD shud have been but wasn't. Cone on BF don't let me down. The BF boys havnt released anything since BC2, but they're still the winners even tho they havnt done anything coz bot MOH and COD were so disappointing.
It's not about Vietnam .... certain events took place in that era and in Vietnam , that's all.

I'm not an expert reviewer, but i am an avid and experienced FPS gamer and this is my honest opinion.
Well now havin completed COD and had sum time 2 reflect I must say I'm not that impressed. I feel it completely missed a trick with the era and especially the bits in Nam. I thought the new MOH was a bit disappointing and was looking forward to COD. But I think COD was even more disappointing. COD just seemed rushed and with a disjointed storey line that jumped about all over the place. There just seemed to b a distinct lack of effort, they were good in the past but not anymore, they r trading on their past reputation and that not good enough, times have moved on and so shud they!!!
Where were the big set pieces that propelled u thro the game. There was not an 'AC130 moment' in this game, nothing to make it stand out as in the previous COD's. Like I said b4 my image of a Huey tarring over the paddy fields cud have been BO's 'AC130 moment'.
MOH had its memorable moments. Flying in the Apache was great fun and sticks out in my mind. Also the scene b4 the Apache where ur squad is pinned down and surrounded with Ur cover being blown to bits around u. That was intense, atmospheric and memorable. To me there was nothing really memorable to make this COD stand out from the rest, it was boring and slow, unlike previous COD's.
I personally think BF BC2 has both COD and MOH whooped, both in single player and online. I feel that if u want a complete online/sp experience BF BC2 is the way forward, it's a whole more complete immersive experience. Again the graphic r not the best but the sound is awesome in comparison, u can hear the echo wen u go from firing outside a building to inside. The gameplay is far more immersive as well, u have to b a more intelligent player on BF BC2 than COD. I find COD very arcady and run and gun, no tactics involved. Where as on BF BC2 u have to work as a team to complete objectives, reviving, dishing out ammo, mending vehicles. The vehicular play on BF BC2 is far superior to any effort on COD as well, which bring a whole new dimension to gameplay. Sniping as well on BF BC2 is an art, u have to allow for the fall of the bullet, u cant just point and shoot as on COD. U also have to think about where u take cover as it will soon b blown to shreds if u stay in one place got too long, making u have to think more about ur positioning on the battlefield and it also helps to negating camping. Lastly I hardly ever experience lag on BF BC2 whereas COD is plagued with it.

Alright, I've spent more time with the game now, experienced all aspects to a decent extent so I thought I'd throw up a full review.
Firstly, the campaign! The campaign itself is pretty standard, decent storyline and lots of action. Sadly the characters aren't very memerable (Something similar to W@W in my opinion, except Reznov!) but the voice acting is top notch! It's difficulty is probably on par with MW2 and thankfully their isn't as much grenade spamming as their is in World at War. Your allies are ALOT better at taking down targets in this one, however... Sometimes it feels like you're the only one getting shot at. Sometimes to your allies will knock you out of cover, and that can be a bit annoying on veteran... But for an overall campaign rating I'd give Black Ops a 7/10.
Visuals next... When you toe to toe it with the Xbox360 version this port is better than most! The graphics are pretty good during the campaign but they can be found lacking online. The terrain view distance isn't dreadful but items at a distance often look like they're 10 years old. Overall though, the weapons look great, the characters look decent and whilst sometimes its a bit disappointing, its pretty good overall so... For Visuals... Another 7/10.
Zombies... Yeahhh! Zombies are back and its pretty fun! Its slightly different to W@W and the levels will take some getting used to however the gameplay is as fun as ever. My only real criticism is the voices... They can get darn annoying (JFK especially) but this shouldn't bother you. Pretty difficult, but very fun... 9/10.
Multiplayer... I might get some stick for this but it seems to be an issue thats split the Call of Duty community in half. Firstly I'd like to say if you own both formats and were thinking "If they graphics are so similar during the campaign I'll just buy it on the PS3", DONT! Online the quality of the port rears its ugly face, its tragically inferior to the 360 version.
Killstreaks... Killstreaks in Modern Warfare 2 were VERY strong, and many people (Mainly Team Deathmatch players) hated them. Whilst there may not be as many in Black Ops, they can be just as powerful. Gunships can rack up 5-10 kills in a very short period of time, thankfully with rockets & SAM sites hopefully you can take them down before they start to annoy the hell out of you. Also with Hardline (Just like MW2) you can get a Radar (Spy Plane) after 2 kills. This is absolutely ridiculous... Its without a doubt the strongest killstreak in any Call of Duty game (Except MAYBE the Tactical Nuke) and if it should be kept atall, it should require atleast 7 kills.
Guns... My only criticism of the guns is that the difference between the lowbie (Level 1-5) guns and the higher guns is bigger than in any previous Call of Duty title. In CoD4 you had the AK-47 & MP5 pretty early, both some of the strongest weapons in the game, in CoD6 you had the Scar & Famas pretty early and those too could get you by. The MP5K in Black Ops gets slaughtered by higher weapons like the AK74U (Unlocked at level 17). People would say "I've leveled up, I deserve those guns!". Leveling shouldn't unlock guns that are immensly powerful., it should unlock attatchments & colour schemes etc, and guns of similar overall stats, but different (IE less range, higher rate of fire).
Perks are decent! Theres nothing stupidly strong (However Lightweight & Marathon are very irritating) and there is a few decent combinations out there, suited to your playstyle, can't knock this.
Then there is health and hardcore matches. I personally think health is too high, yet funnily enough camping is as high as ever! I think my KDR is down stupidly low between 1.1 and 1.2 right now because I've been in games where I'm the only person who isn't standing still in a corner with ghost on... Pro stuff! Also hardcore modes... Disappointing. I always played Hardcore Mosh Pit on MW2 and I kind of feel let down by what we have offered to us.
Overall multiplayer is down to taste... Good things include the weapons (When you finally unlock them), maps (Except Nuketown, I love the maps) & perks. Bad things include graphics (Try the 360 version!), Spy planes, Camping (Not exclusive to CoD7, ofcourse) and it might be down to taste but the health and hardcore modes. I'd give it a 6/10.
In conclusion, its like Medal of Honor... A well respected series that failed to deliver anything above average. Zombies is the highlight but the game does feel rushed. Don't buy this game for the campaign alone, and if you're buying it for the multiplayer I'd recommend renting/borrowing a copy first to see if its to your taste. 7/10.
