People really should look at the manual before they play 
Even just glance through it, youll be surprised at what you learn 
Changing the region settings was the first thing i did when i got the game home at 12:30am Tuesday morning (i read the manual while i was downloading the patch 30mins after release!! ???)

has there ever been a game, that has some sort of online gaming function, that hasnt been released with a patch though...?
Yeah, i discovered the option to filter for local games after getting very frustrated with lag and drop outs.
Was almost as bad as MOH
I experienced the same thing back when MW2 came out - lag for the first few weeks/months..then good connections/local servers.

There have been a few (IL-2:Birds of Prey is the only one I can name confidently, but there are plenty others), but given the way Activision rushes games out the door, I'm not surprised at all CoD:BO had one .
They deffo need to work on the matchmaking with this one - sometimes you'll have full numbers for a game and it'll just sit there! If only more games would be like Warhawk/KZ2/SOCOM and give us server lists.....

Agreed, a server list would make it so much easier to pick a match, as long as it showed the average ping of the server too
@Axe: Yeah i hate it when you finally get into the pre game lobby, which is 12/12 players and it still sits there saying "Need more players to make teams even" *****?!? YOU CANT FIT ANY MORE PLAYERS INTO THE MATCH YOU TARDED GAME!
